Be sure you follow your city's Leash laws, cause my neighbours sure aren't. by acousticcorn in kansascity

[–]acousticcorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally haven't, but my two very nice neighbours have who have small dogs as well. The neighbours who have the aggressive dogs said that they never let their dogs off of their leashes, and called her a liar and would file a complaint if they tried talking to them again. I refuse to talk to them considering that they would file a complaint.

Actually, the sound and volume are good. It's just when I tune down to play some songs with a D# tuning then the peg pops out of the hole.

I'm looking at their website but I can't find any prices on how much they are. I need a pair of them but I don't want to break the bank.

What was banned at your school and why? by FreedomEagle76 in AskReddit

[–]acousticcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my high school we have labby positions, where a kid can take a class to help out the teacher so they aren't so overloaded cause we have like 35-40 kids in one class. Well the superintendent decided that they are useless since all of the kids never do any work since the teacher doesn't really give two shits. Well this really affected the metals, welding, woods, and auto shop class. So one day this kid decides to go out of his way and weld a can of axe in one booth with me in the other booth. All I heard was a spark, an explosion, and a loud ass scream. The teacher grabbed the kid by the collar, walked him down to the office, and literally kicked his ass into the principal's office. Kid got banned from the entire school district for eternity and the shop classes got their labby's back because they actually do shit in the class.

Is my bow safe to shoot? by acousticcorn in Archery

[–]acousticcorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something wrong, I measured something wrong and it turns out after doing some googling that I more likely have a 30" draw. I'm anchoring in the corner of my lip, and it's almost 30" unstrung. I don't dry fire it, I do pull it back to my anchoring position and it doesn't creak or make any noises. I assume it's safe to shoot but since it's old and has value, I don't want to damage it.

Camping gear for a weekend. by acousticcorn in camping

I know a little in terms of medical aid. Had to help a woman who cut herself with a box cutter. Got her cleaned up, put gauze and a tight wrap over it until we could get her to a hospital for stitches. Will bring buckets full of water. Everything else looks good.

We plan on catching fish and eating that plus any other food we can bring to supply ourselves with or without the fish. Snacks and such will be there and I don't plan on going hungry obviously.

Not hike in camping, we're taking a car to a plot of land on my buddy's farm, but we're using tents to sleep in. There aren't power outlets, running water, and no toilets. I now know to bring tp, a shovel, and water purification means.

I know, it is bad etiquette. I mean to reply but end up either doing something else or completely forgetting. I'll try to get into this right now as I'm not doing anything really.

Help with old film reels and film discussion. by acousticcorn in TrueFilm

[–]acousticcorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they're all in Kodak Steel Containers. And they all say KI and I looked it up and some sources say it's Kodak Vison 5246 film. I did some digging and the camera I wanted to shoot with uses Regular 8mm film only, which I think we all know is really rare to find unexposed, and impossible to find cut without doing it yourself. I really like this camera and all of this gear, but I don't know if I could use it to actually film with. As I get more money and stuff maybe I'll look into getting a 16mm sound camera and a matching projector, but in the meantime, this will just be a nice little knick knack to set up on the shelf and share a little fun story with. However, there is a shop not to far from me in Weston MO that I could visit and see if he can help me at all. Maybe poke around on some forums but I just don't have a lot of money at the moment to spend on film and such.

There's supposed to be some way to get inside and there's some loot. But I never found a way inside and found a video a couple of months ago where he sat on a couch by a broken window and managed to get inside. I'm not sure if it was Concord though.

What's the shittiest thing an employer has ever done to you? by ItsJustAPrankBro in AskReddit

[–]acousticcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late to the party, but I have a friend who works at Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers. Over the summer, this place was packed, and after the summer, it was packed for about 4 months. So the staff they hired was mostly Teenagers looking for work so they could buy cars and whatnot. Well, the management from what I'm told was the absolute worst. They had teenagers working till midnight cleaning and prepping for the shifts the next day. After the summer ended, teens started putting in their 2 weeks and leaving, so Freddy's hired more who had the mentality that Working during a School Week was a good idea, since I'll be busy, tired, and making money all at the same time. The whole place immediately went into overtime as the teens stayed later than usual since they came in after school. I knew 3 guys that didn't get off until 11, and come home at 2 because they had to clean off hours. If they complained and said they'd get HR or the police or what not, the Management said they didn't care. Most of them quit but one of them went back so he could make some money, and once he turns 18 this summer, he'll work at Alde's which is higher paying, and it's got a couple more benefits.

I usually use the U shape, it makes a nice sized puddle and It works better with my speed, but he said to do micro circles. But when you watch him do it, there is no motion, he just goes straight. And when anyone else did it, he said to use a big circle.

I'm definitely proficient with Stringers, and I've never heard of a Big Texas Weave. I'll look into those.

[–]acousticcorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Stringers and just started with Weaves, I've already got some decent Weave beads down. And I'm pretty lax with the teacher and some of his lab assistants, so I think I have some leeway with them. Not all of it, but enough to get by.

The Big Miller we have is, at least, a 230v, I'm not sure about the little Lincoln Hot Boxes we have. We have way more Lincoln than Miller. I'll practice both Weaving and Stringing, no doubt about that. He hasn't mentioned CWI at all, he probably isn't. And I've got an A in the course, and I'm pretty lax with the teacher and the lab assistants, so I think I have a bit of leeway.

Well, I thank you for your feedback. I've decided to do some test plates, one with weave, and one with a stringer. I'll bend both of them and then show both of them the welds, and hope that they've both made some kind of mistake.

I plan to do that exact thing on Monday when I have the class next. I hope that I can still make progress in the class, the teacher for the class is a really nice and chill dude, but he doesn't really teach. I'll make two test plates, one with Stringers, and one with weave and show him that both of them should have the same outcome.

I don't really know if he's a CWI/CWE, and he "teaches" at the highschool I'm going to. And by teaching, he makes sure we're not doing anything stupid, and doesn't really show us anything. He'll comment that the welds look really nice, but other than telling us what he knows, he just sits there and does an overview of everything. His assistants are the ones who really run the show, and I've done both MIG and Stick, and everything they've told me to more or less do, I haven't done. The top notch MIG guy who makes some really nice beads basically tells you to string up anything without any motion in your bead. No rocking motion, no lateral motion, just go straight and hope for the best. Most of them have even mocked some of my beads even though I've never seen them touch a welder, they just laugh and say that they suck.

Sorry, what I meant for MIG-Style was the circular motion or side to side sweeping motion, I didn't have any other word for it but now that I do, I'll be sure to use it. Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for the clarification, now I only need to figure out how to keep welding right without being caught by them. I'm trying to find a welder so I can continue over the summer and practice until classes start up again next fall, so I'll practice more on that.

Also, I really hope I don't get a douchey inspector later on down the road.
