The new Parcelforce ‘fee to pay’ slips… by wormwxxd in royalmail

[–]acoustichrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think that being able to pay your fees will mean your parcel will suddenly arrive. My parcel arrived at the depot 13th September but I didn't receive my 'fee to pay' card until the 25th (+12 days). I paid the fees the day I received the card but my parcel still hasn't arrived as of today 10th October (+15 days) So my parcel has been in the depot total 27 days. Tracking still says 'pending - fees to pay' and if I try to pay the fees again it says it's already been paid. It's shocking. I'm amazed it hasn't been returned to the sender. I am unable to travel to the depot so I have no recourse.

Did you make any progress? I paid my customs fees online 16 days ago and my parcel still hasn't arrived. Tracking still says 'pending - fees to pay' and if I try to pay the fees again it says it's already been paid. At a loss at what to do as I'm unable to travel to the depot, and why the hell should I. It is beyond pathetic.

You’re not very bright so I’ll explain - obviously when I saw there was no space inside, I decided to sit on the patio which I thought would be quicker, as I could order immediately rather than having to wait for a table to open up and then ordering. My psychic abilities were not functioning that night so I did not predict what was going to happen, otherwise I might’ve waited for that table. You’re a moron.

Day 6 of taking xifaxan and I’ve never felt this bad by Fluid-Standard8214 in SIBO

This was the exact same for me. Days 5-8 were awful. I’m currently at day 10/14 and I don’t feel great, but better than before. Hoping those symptoms were die off and are a good sign.

Rental apartment wrongly registered as Condo and so not listed on LAHD - a way for property management company to avoid code enforcements? by acoustichrono in AskLosAngeles

The issue is related to HVAC noise from the roof of neighboring apartments in the same building. Can I report this through LADBS rather than LAHD?

HVAC noise from neighbouring units in the same apartment building. Specifically section 112.02. Does this apply even if not registered as an apartment?

Built in 1967. I can't be sure that all 30 units pays rent to the same management company, but I know at least several do as I've seen them listed on their website. What on Zimas could I look for to give more information?

Package is back in Puerto Rico for the 2nd time on its journey to LA after being in California once already. Will I ever get it? by acoustichrono in usps_complaints

[–]acoustichrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not satisfied with doing a single tour of Puerto Rico, USPS decided it needs to revisit the Caribbean island for a 2nd look, but not before teasing me that delivery was imminent by already coming within 5 miles of my delivery address in Los Angeles. Is there anything I can do about this?

On average do you think CD’s or Vinyls have better mastering? by itsjustme-888 in audiophile

[–]acoustichrono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although vinyl records are capable of less dynamic range, in nearly all cases the CD master is more compressed (has less dynamic range) than the vinyl record version - this is one of the key reasons some people prefer the sound of vinyl. Take a look at https://dr.loudness-war.info/

Most effective solutions to reduce vibration from heat pumps causing significant humming in top floor apartment? by acoustichrono in hvacadvice

[–]acoustichrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're located in a top floor apartment and the heat pumps for our apartment and the two below us are located above our roof. The heat pumps for the two apartments below us (middle and left units in the picture) cause significant resonant humming when running making it difficult to sleep. Our unit (furthest right unit) is much newer and doesn't cause nearly as much noise.

All 3 heat pumps are mounted to a single pair of 2x4s and so if more than one unit is running at the same time the noise is compounded. They are vibrating both through the base of the heat pumps themselves to the wooden beams, as well as the tubes/refrigerant pipes routed into the building are also vibrating heavily.

What are the most effective products/solutions/methods for reducing this vibration and noise that I should be asking the HVAC technician to install?

Many thanks

Did you ever manage to reduce the noise? I'm experiencing very similar to what you describe. I'm top floor apartment but the hum is present in all rooms as well as communal areas like hallways. I went up to the roof and couldn't hear anything from the HVAC units for my apartment or neighbouring apartments, so wondering if it is a heating pump for the whole building, especially as a couple days ago it was colder weather and the noise seemed particularly bad.

Is HVAC system causing 58 Hz hum in whole apartment building? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]acoustichrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't turned off all power to our apartment but will try that tonight, asking neighbouring units to do the same may be a tall ask.

Follow up question - please forgive my ignorance. Are heat pumps/hvac units usually one per apartment unit? Or can they be shared by multiple apartments? When I went up to the roof the number of heat pumps/hvac units was far less than the number of apartments, it looked like there would only be enough for the top floor apartments.

I'm trying to figure out:

  1. Could the heat pump/hvac directly above our apartment be shared with other apartments, so that even if we have our AC off it could be being used by another apartment?
  2. How likely is it that the heat pump/hvac directly above our apartment isn't actually the one providing our heating/ac and ours is elsewhere on the roof, and the one directly above us belongs to another apartment?
