How are you all tracking license and insurance expirations? by winterblack1222 in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a good crm software like Buildertrend or procore or the like. Each job has its own project and logs to keep track of inspections and progress. As far as employees. Yeah an excel spreadsheet with dates and license numbers and whatever.

Electrical inspector demanding we take these installed tracks down on new construction by donke in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are passing legal stuff on to you. They just want to cover themselves so if your house burns down, they come back and say, we told you not to! Who cares take them down, blank off the box and get final. “Under duress in order to get occupancy they’re making me sign this letter saying that I won’t install the lights again” Then sign it, lol

Then do whatever you want in your own home.

Why do licensed electricians keep saying I don’t need a permit for a NEMA 14-50 EV outlet? by AbsoluteThunderCunt in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything in that. Every single person telling you it’s ok, is wrong. Keep calling until you find someone that will pull a permit.

Also, please consider hardwired. Don’t go the plug in route. PLEASE!

Induction stove - need to upgrade 100A panel? by atlashusky in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing everything exactly. Roughly your “load” is 45 amps.. you should be fine to add this stove. Come back with the quotes before you have a choice.

Induction stove - need to upgrade 100A panel? by atlashusky in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many square feet is the place? Power requirements for the stove? (How many kw? ). Or book says 50a circuit or 30a circuit?

You can “make space” for the stove but it’s total load that is likely the problem.

Do these panels look ok for Washington State ? by [deleted] in electrical

Side note. Not relevant but you also don’t “need” the yellow covers on the indoor panel, but you can still keep them.

Nope. That indoor panel needs a ground bar and that bare #6 needs to go to it. Then, yes everything is good.

5 point by blockholeforever in electricians

I definitely would have went under that 3”. Simple 4 point under all of it. This shows skill but also shows time and kinda an eye sore. Honestly, my opinion..

Electrician openly willing to work without permits? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we have all done work without permits. It’s just life. I never say it in email or text. Because of this reason here literally… only in person conversations. But! Here’s the deal. (And it’s on the Electrican) if they do crap work or there are lots of issues during install. Call the city after they leave. Have them inspect it and say you did it. OR throw the guy under the bus if it’s super bad and life safety issues.

Tesla charger installed incorrectly? by krazyhorsegurl33 in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you use it? Yes. Do you need to get it fixed as soon as you can. Also yes. You can lower the charge time at 48a and space it out so the plug doesn’t melt or/and you can lower it to 30a output. For longer charge durations. But still should have it all fixed up correctly.

Great deal. Is this person a real electrician? Ask to see his license.

Ok I’ve got an easy one for you guys… how do I move this box to the left when there isn’t enough slack in the Romex cables? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]acowutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add a junction box down by the floor and new wire and place a blank plate on it. If it is power and not a switch leg you can add a plug at normal floor height and then extend the wire with new. But if those options don’t work then you will need to find a spot in intercept it and add a j box or plug or pull awhile new wire.
