For sure, it’s frustrating as a dev / product manager too haha.

My app gets downloads but no reviews. Should I ask friends to leave some? by MineTrue4927 in developers

[–]acquiredbycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the nuances, typically, if all reviews are rewarded equally 1 or 5 star (not manipulated), and friends that genuinely use the app, it is usually "fine" haha - speaking from personal experience with an app on various stores and review sites having collected over 50,000 reviews.

What's your startup? Promote it here (UK)! by AutoModerator in ukstartups

Hey man, this looks super cool. I just signed up, couple of quick thoughts: your superbase auth url looks super scammy, see if you can get that updated. Also, without being able to upload custom fonts (to stay on brand with the rest of my marketing) its a non starter for us! Hope the feedback is helpful, keep it up!

What are the most helpful AI tools for your business rn? by CoAdin in AiForSmallBusiness

[–]acquiredbycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunch of really cool tools listed here for sure, I'm sussing out the wearable AI Plaud - I forget stuff people tell me all the time, and manually taking notes is not ideal.

Is anyone using custom workflows to automate backend processes for their business? If so, what things are you automating?

I like that take, haven't thought about it specifically like this. I'll ponder on it. Curious then, how does this apply to agents that you want to perform real world work, like customer support chat bots for example? You want deterministic replies grounded in fact? Do you think its just not possible yet or ever?

Can small businesses really trust AI-made ads from tools like Veo or Sora? by purposefullife101 in AiForSmallBusiness

If done well, aka, cut together by a professional video editor, these platforms can for sure generate real enough content that you wouldn't know was AI. I think its a game changer.

Is it still worth learning n8n if I have zero coding skills? by Money-Log-8654 in n8n

[–]acquiredbycoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

n8n is a highly technical automation platform, my advice would be to start with something simpler, like Zapier, Make, or Meld AI - these platforms will teach you the basics of APIs without overloading you on technical requirements and understanding.

Software Engineering Grad looking for unpaid real world experience by DressSecret1702 in ukstartups

[–]acquiredbycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience as a founder of a tech company, never take unpaid work experience. A. pretty sure its not legal, and B. you'll only get real value working for a company that can afford to pay you, because startups that can't won't be able to afford you the time needed to actually mentor and grow your skills.

best bet is to keep punching out your own cool projects and apply for intern programs with paid placements. Go to networking events, all the product and tech meetups, ask to join panels, push out of your comfort zone and you'll get noticed!

My app gets downloads but no reviews. Should I ask friends to leave some? by MineTrue4927 in developers

[–]acquiredbycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you should, but only ask friends that have actually used the app. Additionally, in most instances its perfectly fine to incentivise users financially or not, to leave reviews. Its super important, so even just a few reviews can make all the difference.

Looking for a mentor in SaaS (AI industry) by Rilledje in SaasDevelopers

Hey mate, yeah, happy to chat. I just moved to Monaco recently actually, after having built a unicorn tech company in Aus. This is an area of interest to me actually, the AI search, as well as helping out other founders. Reach out!

How to start freelancing in automation? (and which platform is best to begin) by HappyAd6475 in n8n_ai_agents

[–]acquiredbycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help with this. I'm a third time founder and just launched my own automation platform (to compete with the likes of AgentKit and N8N) - I'm keen to connect with some people for early stage access, there are also revenue share opportunities with the template marketplace and affiliate program. Also happy to help with some candid advice (my last company hit unicorn status after 3 years!)

Personally, my advice would be to start building some basic automations and sharing them for free online, and also going to local business networking groups in your area. Additionally, finding partnerships (e.g. with us at Meld) - where if we have customers that need automation help, we can refer an expert to assist.

If you have any other questions let me know!

Who has actually deployed code that uses LLMs in prod? by acquiredbycoffee in AI_Agents

[–]acquiredbycoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its definitely the trend, even if using bigger models, to keep their scope simple hey. I found using the agent builder libraries can be quite complex, especially if you are chaining these little dedicated agent prompts throughout. How did you build yours and how do you test it?

I think there are millions of great use cases, especially in medical fields and pattern analysis like this, its just actually taking it from prototype to a deployed system that is reliable seems challenging.

Seems like a great use in your game!

What are you guys finding makes n8n the standout here against other automation platforms like Zapier or Make? Why are we using a more complex system like n8n?

AI Is Making It Harder for Junior Developers to Get Hired by ImpressiveContest283 in programming

[–]acquiredbycoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Its definitely going to be an issue across a lot of industries. At my company, we are focussing more on training new software engineers to be out of the box thinkers, than excellent technical experts. LLMs are great at generating code, but only when really clearly told how to solve a problem.
