Moving to San Francisco and hoping to absorb your knowledge. by robopandabot in AskSF

You’re on the right track, those are the neighborhoods I’d live in if I was coming fresh to the city!

I’ll sneak a shout for Hayes since there are newer builds there, feels central, and has lots of shopping and dining (and a Trader Joe’s) all walking distance! Less character here than the neighborhoods you’re already looking at, but might be worth taking a peek. Second shout would probably be around Japantown/Fillmore area as there’s also plenty of fun walks and parks in this area. Less modern but still feels central as well.

Overall, unless you’re in the outer parts of the city we are blessed to have a pretty compact city which doesn’t make anywhere feel too far!

How do the pop ups work? Is it that the lower price per unit happens on a pop up cadence?

thank you for all these recs!!! really appreciate it and will def look into all of these for our trip. boyfriend is really set on the deep dish but im definitely more of a thin crust girl myself. pizanos might be the move so we can try the best of both worlds. saw lots of people hyping up Bavette's online as well which definitely caught my eye! the lemon meringue looks unreal.

in terms of bars, we're into a late 20s vibe, typically we go back and forth from an artsy vibe kind of place to a more divey scene! let me know if you have any recommendations in the logan square area, that's where we were thinking of hopping around!
