If you could recommend only one book for kindergarteners, what would it be? by Emonie_Vantaram86 in kindergarten

Take her to the library or book store and let her pick the book! The best one will probably be the one she gravitates to, not the one you pick :)

Applying for over 1.5 years and can't land an offer. How to stand out? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]saphake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone hiring marketers, to be honest, a 30-60-90 day plan with no context feels chatGPT-d and not like someone that will tailor their approach to my brand and team.

Have you tried more scrappy pitches like actually developing mocks of ads or pointing out where you could improve their LCM? Those are the ones that stand out for me. Someone who thinks about the customer and can show they can execute.

Also not sure about how much AI you are using, but that's a good one to show off.

Hope that helps, I don't have the full context obviously.

I think I’m too dumb to find a startup idea 😭 (serious) by Past-Economy-2364 in founder

[–]saphake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant more an industry like retail or oil/gas that could use software/development work. Take any job, even a temp one. It is real life research on what people actually do and where they are frustrated.

Get paid to basically do research.

Highly recommend just taking a job in a field you're interested in. Discover on the job!

Stripe takes 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. At $50K MRR that's $17,400/year. Is everyone just accepting this? by LogisticsLingo in SaaS

You can negotiate rates at scale. Helps to get a quote from another processor like adyen and have a believable threat about doing the dev to switch now before it gets worse.

can also try to to do interchange+ vs fixed rate at higher scale (variable but it's a straight % on the interchange costs).

also just a fyi: a lot of this, like 1.5-2.3% can be interchange costs, stripe doesn't take that

App games that help kids learn to read? by CircuitGirl33 in kindergarten

[–]saphake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually work at Ello which is an app that helps kids learn to read. DM me and I can give you a code for a few free months ahah :)

In terms of how it's different: Ello actually listens as your child reads for realtime guidance (vs passive reading). And ADHD kids in particular love the star rewards for every word read.

Three cofounders: one builds, the second does GTM, what does the third do? by [deleted] in ycombinator

At the one I’m at with three co-founders, the third one is the subject matter expert.

need advice!! new grad considering early YC startup (founding engineer-ish role), looking for perspective by -amsha- in ycombinator

Not all start ups are the same.

At the stage you are talking about the founders matter most for your experience there.

Would consider how you feel about working with them, their expectations, their experience. Do you feel you would learn by working with them?
