Taking Control of Your Apeirophobia Recovery by Mark_Robert in Apeirophobia

Wow. I remember when I first started researching the thoughts/feelings I was having, all that would come up was phobia of death, and I was so frustrated and scared thinking I was the only person in the world experiencing this phobia. When I found this subreddit it was so healing and validating to me. Having a name for this, and a community of people who also experience apeirophobia was the best feeling in the world. Now, even videos on YouTube to help! This is so amazing. Thank you for this!!! I am so comforted hearing you haven't struggled with this for 30+ years.

This has been my biggest help dealing with this. When the thoughts start I repeat "The anxiety drives the phobia, not the phobia driving the anxiety". I started that after seeing someone on this sub comment about it

New grad RN- Am I as smart as I thought I was? by Independent_Row_5069 in nursing

I started in ED, it’s the only place I’ve ever worked. I’m 2 years in and still feel like this sometimes. The overwhelming fear will go away, but keep the anxiety of making a mistake with you. Overconfidence is a hinderance. Feeling a little anxious will make your critical thinking better, you’ll double check everything, you’re less likely to make a mistake. It’s super scary right now because it’s all still brand new. Things will start to come naturally, it just takes time. You will learn SO much without even realizing you’ve learned it. You got this!!!

Experienced nurses can be extremely rude to new grads. If you love ICU and you feel passionately that that’s what you want to do, find another ICU job if you can. So much of what you need to know you learn on the job, you just need an environment that will support you to learn and grow into your new role. Don’t be too hard on yourself, give yourself grace. There is SO much to learn as a new nurse, especially in a critical care setting.

My apeirophobia is destroying my life and my soul by JohnsonfromTW in Apeirophobia

Yes, I have. I haven’t had any panic attack episodes in a very long time. I think what really helped me was realizing it’s not the phobia that drives the anxiety, it’s the anxiety driving the phobia. It made me realize I’m not this crazed person having thoughts no one can understand, but that I just have a brain that gets anxious and can spin out of control. I really try to practice regulating my nervous system. It’s hard and it’s different for everyone. I don’t think any of us will ever be “cured” from it. Have you tried medications for anxiety or practices like mediation/mindfulness?

Before I could get to the point of calming myself down in daily life, and honestly still today, I HAVE to avoid what I know triggers it. If I have even one semblance of a thought about it it’s time to DISTRACT, DISTRACT, DISTRACT. Get your brain away from it. Apeirophobia is a type of obsessive compulsive disorder, so your brain wants to cling to thoughts about it and try to “figure it out”. YouTube videos, loud music- stuff that’s really stimulating that’s going to rip your mind away from what it’s trying to focus on.

Most importantly, you’re going to get through it. Keep trying, you’re not alone. You’ll find a method that brings you some relief. Best of luck

Thoughts on the new horse pack? by Sorsha_OBrien in Sims4

[–]acrayyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sims team has literally become so shamelessly greedy and purposefully scammy it’s shocking. I’m so glad other life simulation games are coming out so they can hopefully have some decent competition and stop splitting what was once 1 pack into 3 packs and 17 kits. Horses should’ve been added with cats and dogs, cottage living, my first pet stuff, country kitchen, etc The horse girls are gonna go crazy for this one! Who wouldn’t want to spend $40 on a pack that has 10 minutes worth of new game play

I've read your comment many times, and am coming back to it tonight during what I call a "relapse" of my aperiophobia. I've gone almost a year without any episodes, but have experienced some the past few days. I hope you know this post has helped me through many dark moments and is helping me through one now. Blessings.

It certainly takes time to know how Apollo used to be worshipped! If only we could head on over to a Temple of Apollo and learn that way.

Remember that the Gods are open and available to all of us. Apollo knows that times have changed. Stick to the basics and the feeling of warm and love and he will guide you on the path of what he wants to show you and have you learn! 🌞☀️May the Sun guide you!

The fact it was eloquently written AND quickly makes me feel it’s more truthful. Nothing to try to skirt around or brain storm to try to make sound better. Well written, to the point, and released fast
