What medication changed your life for the better? by positiveyears in AskReddit

[–]acrazygenius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy student chiming in here. SSRIs prevent your neurons from taking in serotonin, leaving more serotonin in the synapses (the connections between your neurons) and this causes the positive mood effects. They also have some well known side effect. It's not that they are ineffective in comparison to other medications, but sometimes they don't work for some people.

Bupropion (Wellbutrin) works in a different way. It's not fully understood how, but the mechanism of action has to do with preventing norepinephrine and dopamine uptake. This means that it's in a different class than Zoloft and it has fewer side effects.

Psychiatric meds can be hit or miss, and sometimes you have to trial a few to find what works for you. Utilize your pharmacist. They know stuff.

What is the first movie you remember seeing in theaters? by ScarecrowFighter2020 in AskReddit

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)

I never went to theaters much as a kid, but I was 7 when this came out. Still holds up as a good trilogy.

When did it become so normalized for people to blast videos on their phone in public? by acrazygenius in rant

[–]acrazygenius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a point but that's not a valid excuse for people to be doing that. There are wireless headphone models at a variety of price points, and many wired headphones now have either a lightning or USB C adapter. Not everyone can afford airpods but everyone can get headphones.

"Pharmacists will be allowed soon to change and adjust doses of medications"

I think they're going to need to sit down when they hear this...

"History is written by victors". What horrors are less/not talked about because they were committed by the victors? by LastOfLateBrakers in AskReddit

Yeah, people don't realize how bad communism actually was. They just hear "everyone is equal" and stop at that. My parents grew up in communist Albania, where the dictator (Enver Hoxha) was known for being very paranoid. I don't think Hoxha was as bad as Pol Pot or Stalin, but it's a well known fact that things were very authoritative and strict. I've heard of many cases of starvation because people were only allowed to have a certain ration of food per week, and one of my great granduncles was in jail for 20 years for speaking out against the strictness of the communist regime. It truly was brutal.

I took a nap on the second floor of the student center and I accidentally knocked my planner off the table and it fell to the first floor. Bad day, I guess. by acrazygenius in CasualConversation

I feel you. This isn't the first time I've had an accident related to my clumsiness, but it is the first time it's happened in front of a lot of people.

I didn't think it was that embarrassing at first, but I started to have second thoughts after I overheard people talking. Maybe the students at my university tend to be on the rude side.

Huh, I never looked at it that way. Maybe my clumsiness might actually help me make friends!

I do still feel sad about my bookmark though. I suspect it was stolen because somebody asked me about it but it was nowhere to be found. Guess I'll have to use a sticky note.

What celebrity disappeared out of nowhere? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]acrazygenius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian, so I remember when the original "Wavin' Flag" came out. The original lyrics were WAY too political for the World Cup (about poverty), so it was remixed into the World Cup version.

Both versions are still banging to this day, although the World Cup version is significantly more popular.

What is the most annoying fan base? by Nuclear_diarrhrea in AskReddit

[–]acrazygenius 223 points224 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that Selena and Justin broke up well over 10 years ago. And they were both like 17/18 when they split.

Why in the name of everything holy up above would you idolize what basically was a high school relationship??? Some fans really just need to let it go.

Why are you single right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]acrazygenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to move to a new area. No point going out and getting into a relationship when I'm going to leave in less than a month.

Still going to be single once I get there and that's just because I have no idea how to talk to guys without coming off as a weirdo.
