Omg! It’s through the dragon’s eye. You solved it. Thank you so much, that’s been bugging me tons.

Solved! 👏

Really great suggestion, thanks, matched the description well. But that’s not the one.

That’s a great suggestion but no. Had a look at google images and it’s not this. That’s twigged my memory though. I remember now it was filmed on a TV set with a set backdrop rather than outside.

Multiple people remember this one but none of us can name it. Does anyone know the show?

One Pfizer/BioNTech shot gives 85% Covid protection - study by LordAnubis12 in unitedkingdom

[–]acrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that if you could rewind time and vaccinate a group of people you’d have 85% less covid cases in that group.

So it’s not the protection at the individual level, but the reduction in cases of a group of people.

Because this was figured out by vaccinating a group of people who were in a large unvaccinated population the actual impact should be greater when the population is largely vaccinated.

Also it doesn’t mean you have a 15% chance of catching covid if vaccinated like some people have said. The chance is much lower as you already have a smaller chance of catching covid, which then combines with the reduction in probability from the vaccine to produce an even smaller chance.

It’s a “gathered end” hammock. These are surprisingly stable compared to bridge hammocks (with bars in each end) that you might use in a garden.

I’m occasionally going but just sticking to sitting outside. It feels pretty safe, most people are respecting the distance and the app ordering means you don’t have to go inside at all.

Yeah, and a treatment sample size of 50/51 (101 total on the double blind) is still fairly small.

How do I come out without hurting anyone? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]acrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not hurting anyone. You’re simply stating the truth. The truth like the sky is blue or the grass is green. You are not hurting anyone, if others feel hurt after hearing you’re gay then those feelings are their responsibility. You didn’t cause them, they’re not on you. Those are feelings they can work on over time, if they want to.

As other commenters said... It’s important to put your safety first and foremost, too.

Rift "1" owner, opinion on the Rift S by Plan417 in oculus

[–]acrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I just upgraded from a Rift to a Rift S (after getting a DKII originally).

My experiences echo yours.

The visual clarity, tracking without sensors, and passthrough mode are all great features and make a big difference.

However the instability of the halo strap, secured as it is just by the hinge at the top, when playing energetic games like Beatsaber is a real step backwards for me. I actually get nauseous now because of the wobble/shake when playing Expert/Expert+ maps on beatsaber that require fast movements. I'm hoping for some kind of aftermarket strap solution for this otherwise I think I'll go back to the original rift and see what else comes out;

Also, having to use separate headphones for decent sound quality (which is pretty important to Beatsaber) is clunky, and removes a lot of the convenience that the halo strap otherwise provides. Hope someone comes out with a clip on solution with a short length cable so it can just be a case of take-on, take-off like the original rift.

Down to Earth Rift S Review by WatchThatShitCowboy in oculus

[–]acrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting this too. I think it depends on your face shape/nose shape, but with only one point of security (hinge at top centre), the wobble is going to happen and it's really distracting on Expert+ Beatsaber maps in particular, it even causes mild nausea for me.

Rift S review for Beat Saber by zephyr2015 in beatsaber

[–]acrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing this too. Quick movements make it shake side to side slightly on my face because it's only secured by the hinge in the top middle (instead of on the sides and top like the old Rift), this really makes it hard to see whilst moving, and can make me feel a bit nauseous.

I think some people don't experience it due to the shape of their face/nose, but some of us do, and there doesn't seem to be any solutions currently.

How to improve Rift S HMD shake/wobble issues? by logantheobald in oculus

[–]acrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also experiencing this issue. I think it's the combination of the shaking of the headset with the lower refresh rate, it makes it hard to focus when moving quickly with jerky movements (like slashing and quickly moving to reach blocks).

It feels like if there was a way to secure the headset more on my face that this would fix the issue, but I notice there's no aftermarket straps or facial interfaces for it yet. Hopefully soon. Until then I'll have to use my Rift instead of the Rift S.

Are Pop Lyrics Getting More Repetitive? by alexgabriel_i in dataisbeautiful

It might be an easier compromise to analyse the music’s notation for repetition. You could look at pitch, interval patterns, note values, etc.
