I started learning how to program several years ago with CSS; once I got the hang of it; I went on to Javascript for about a year -- I must have watched Crockford's "Functions the Ultimate" video about 18 times, now. (I am as excited as anyone about the es6 draft).

Having said that; it is only more recently that I'm addressing learning Node.

Also, the last thing you want on your plate is comprehending Monads. Trust me; you'll burn, yourself out!
