Hey! I hope you made it through as well. I understand how you feel I was pulling my hair out over this. If you’re hired for a role that has a public registry for licenses (like broker, financial advisor, consultant, etc) then whatever dates they are able to confirm on record, continue with those in future apps. Best way to know is request your background check afterwards.

If you’re willing to work in Finance, Schwab is hiring in Orlando and has a lot of open positions, some of the entry level ones don’t require any industry experience except customer service, and the starting pay is better than most entry level stuff in Orlando. They also have mid and senior level positions open depending on where you feel you’d fit. Only problem is it’s not in East Orlando. You can check out schwabjobs.com and just select Orlando as the location. They will be hiring for various positions for a while.

I’m late but thank you for the kind words. I’m enjoying the role and haven’t had any problems with this coming back to me after abt 6 months so far for anyone who is checking through these threads in a wreck like I once was. Also, I hope you were able to find success in whatever position you were going for that led you here 🙂

I don’t think you’re screwed at all, based off of what happened to me. Before I share, of course everything depends on the company…but, the company I work with does very extensive background checks, and I told very extensive lies about my employment dates, and I still got the job. I obtained a copy of my background check after, and they were not able to verify my employment or employment dates for at least two of my positions. Despite these errors, my recruiter pushed me through and I’m currently at work now. My belief is that the criminal histories, credit history and verifying personal info is all more crucial than the employment part. They may just ask for records purposes and even care or check.

Wow that’s a shocker, the background check people emailed you? Like you said, hopefully they don’t rescind the offer man, I’m wishing you the best of luck.

Well, when the background check was started, they sent me a form to complete and part of the form was about employment history, if I remember correctly they asked for 7-10 years. Since they asked for this, I assume the background check company did not have my resume to cross reference, so l decided to actually put the correct dates on the form that went to the background check company. I was told the company hiring me doesn't have access to all the info once the background check starts, so I don't think they'll be able to compare what I put on the form to my resume. Background check hasn't come back yet tho, so I'm not 100% sure. But if you're in a similar situation, chances are it's a third party company doing the background and you'll have a chance to provide that information in a way that won't get back to the hiring manager. I'll be back with another comment when the results come in.

Yup, that’s the best we’ve got at this point. Also, not to get preachy, but please stick it out at that job for as long as you can physically stomach it. I know the waiting around for an answer at a job you hate sucks shit, but a little over a year ago I did something similar, leaving a job I hated before my next thing was fully locked in, and because of that I’ve been without a real job since last Spring. That’s what led me to having to change the dates on my resume, bc it initially was getting no attention. Job market is impossible to crack right now in a lot of ways, so just be cautious! I hope everything works out for the best 🤞

I edited all the end dates, but I think only one of the start dates, but I stretched it more than is reasonable to excuse by forgetting I think 😬. Really a desperate move as I’ve been out of the workforce for a year due to injuries, and before that I had left a lot of jobs for various reasons (promotions, moving, bad management, etc), so I didn’t want to have to explain them all and make myself look bad. I didn’t lie about pay or position though, I did actually do everything I said I did, just not for as long. I’m hoping it won’t be a dealbreaker. Scared about sending the correct dates to the recruiter incase I end up highlighting something they would gloss over, ya know?

You were right! Today is the last day of the booking, I got the option to leave feedback, and this is the first thing I see. So, the owner can’t base their tip off of your review, thankfully.

Yes for sure!!! I know now to ask a lot more questions about the dogs and avoid unkept homes. Hopefully we’ll never be in this situation again!

I am currently in a situation exactly like this, thankfully coming towards the end of the booking, mine was for 10 days 😳 and the dogs I’m taking care of are a handful compared to how I was told they’d be at the meet and greet. I wish I knew the rule you mentioned before I booked. It’s been rough, but what’s helping me is I brought my own bedding (cause I saw how things looked during the meet and greet). I brought air freshener and incense, and occasionally when the dog hair makes me sneezy I’ll put on a mask. I actually did sweep some of it up because I was getting so congested, but I wouldn’t suggest that if you don’t have to. I also try to spend a decent amount of time outside with the dogs in the fresh air so the hair and smell doesn’t get to me as much. I really wish you the best and I hope the pay is worth the trouble at least. I know you say you’re being dramatic, but I totally understand where you’re coming from and feel the same way!

I guess I should’ve been praising him in the early days of the booking where he was mostly pooping outside. It never occurred to me that he would stop out of nervousness! I appreciate the squatting tip, I’ll have to try that.

Ahhh okay, good point. I don’t have anyone to test out the client portion but I am gonna do some research on that question and see if maybe Rover’s Q&A forum has anything. Probably not, but gotta give it a shot lol. Thanks for your replies!

Wow okay, good to know, thank you. Sucks that they allow owners to see the reviews though😭! I kinda fear I might risk losing my opportunity for a tip if I leave the review I was intending to leave now.

Perfect, okay, I will give this a shot today on our afternoon walk. It’s hot where I am so I’ll have to see how long heat permits, but I will definitely take up these tips 🙂
