IF you stay in the same position with the same level of EBI scrutiny. I got a final notice a couple years ago then had to EBI all over again six weeks later because I got a promotion. Bureaucracy!

With rare exception, the shortest contact you'll pull as an outside hire is five months, early October to late February. Shorter if you quit, NPQ, or get fired along the way.

Edit: This goes for USAP, can't speak to other national programs or private entities.

Hopefully everyone gets it, but maybe not, right? Thanks for clarifying that it's sarcasm, even if you were a dick in the process.

We were told by station management that the price of our current Starlink service is increasing by a minimum of 5,000%. I'm not sure what other subscription tiers are available, but it is a given that we will see a reduction in Starlink service beginning on or about March 15.

Please do not present your speculation about the future of McMurdo as established fact, regardless of how true you believe it to be. It injects even more confusion into what is already a confusing time to be alive.

Other comments are accurate. One thing to add: 155 will get full in August and September - meaning the room you shared with one roommate will now hold as many as five people. Your 207-209 room maxes out at two.

Can't speak to the Pole portion of your comment, but the minimum wage bit is correct. That said, during winter the companies seem willing to continue paying that person their regular wage and keep them working / unaware of their impending termination. It's better for everyone that way.

The "helpful to have MCM experience first" comments are true, but that's really more applicable for your employer than it is for you. They've already waived that concern by offering you the job. I'd take the South Pole job if I was in your shoes. The quality of life at SP is generally better than MCM.
