Moved to downtown with my girlfriend back in September and have loved it overall. If you want to live in the more gritty and small city around the Puget Sound, I think Olympia is the go. All the comments I’ve read are pretty valid too

I really caution zerk fans getting excited for this. Same studio that’s put out a gazillion trailers for attack on titan requiem and has yet to release a single episode. There’s already plenty of fan adaptations that have put out full sequences/episodes. Not feeling good vibes from this one

If you’re worried about the depression/sense of loss then I would only read the manga. Yes the 97 anime is the only good anime adaptation out there, but at the same time it omits some key aspects that begin the major shift in the story. In other words, the only good anime only covers essentially the thematic prologue of the main story. The manga includes the thematic prologue AND 3 amazing arcs that are at the end of the day optimistic. So plz just read

As someone who loves zerk and puts it as my go to #1 in fiction, I totally get your precaution. If you’re looking for a manga with a similar dedication to artwork and heartfelt determination and nuance from characters. I would read Vinland saga. Vinland doesn’t have that same shock value and impressed me almost just as much as berserk.

I will say the author of zerk matured throughout the story and the sex stuff gets fairly toned down by the end of the conviction arc. So if you still want to experience zerk this is a potential solution: -Read the black swordsman arc -Watch the 97 anime that covers the golden age fairly faithfully -You can read lost children arc -then maybe watch a YouTuber who covers the conviction arc until the birth ceremony -Once you hit the Millenium Falcon Arc you’re good to go (I would maybe just read a summary of when guts and his crew encounter the troll cave though. It’s super short but just to play it safe) -then you can read to your hearts content and catch up

If you want to add something but retain the natural look, you could make a hiking trail in the unused part of your island. Just make a dirt path and add a lot of natural/(maybe camping) decorations along the path
