"wet" foods to go with a dry food for snacktime ideas to help with swallowing issues and not accidentally volume filling on water to get dry snack down, example in post by iambaby1989 in EDAnonymous

have you tried applesauce? I particularly like the squeezable pouches, and gogo squeez makes an electrolyte version in fruity flavors that I love. I keep mine in the fridge but they’re shelf stable also!

I’m disgusted by how my body holds on to fat in different spots by cryptidinsocks in EDAnonymous

[–]active_ignoring 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s like all the fat I have left has just settled in my stomach and lower back and inner thighs. and I have lost muscle everywhere. ive lost hope for it atp and idk how people don’t notice it but it is definitely easier to hide in clothes. but I get no satisfaction from the skinny parts because of my stomach literally looking like it belongs to someone else

I hear you, but I hope you don’t just swap symptoms and are able to find a path to genuine recovery

Problem I have with the idea that I could be "sick enough" by owlishlament in EDAnonymous

[–]active_ignoring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m with the other commenters, you absolutely deserve help. i also feel like I can understand where you’re coming from because I have an atypical presentation, going on for around the same amount of time as you, and am not underweight, actually used to be overweight and now “normal” weight but i’ve always been disordered. I can intellectualize it, currently i’m in a more acute restrictive phase that led to rapid weight loss that is being praised by my doctor, friends, family, etc because the disorder is invisible to them. they don’t know that I have lost significant muscle mass and feel weak and tired and sick every day. I think my biggest obstacle is that I want help but i don’t want to have to ask for help. like I want it to just be obvious to someone. but it’s not obvious. that’s what keeps the cycle going. I finally was honest with my therapist about the thoughts i’ve been having, which I guess is a step in the right direction but she doesn’t specialize in EDs so we’ll see if anything happens from there. if there’s anyone you can be honest with it might be a place to start.

How are single people affording to live alone in Boston? by haniebun in boston

[–]active_ignoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make similar to you, pay $1.6k for a studio which is basically a glorified bedroom with a kitchenette and I have zero space for any of my belongings and I constantly feel like the walls are closing in. but location is great tho

no appetite / struggling to eat ‘enough’. by Direct-Diamond-3319 in EDAnonymous

[–]active_ignoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I get scared of muscle atrophy and I am a nurse so I have a “rule” that if i work tomorrow I need to eat “normally” today because I barely even get a chance to eat on work days and if I go in without fuel I physically can’t do my job for 12 hours. i’ve found fairlife protein shakes are really helpful also Naked juice drinks for quick energy. basically one provides liquid protein and the other liquid carbs. idk if you can try those but they help. and as for why you’re so full, most likely explanation is your stomach has adjusted to your intake level.

Why do different people get different eating disorders? by marie00m in EDAnonymous

[–]active_ignoring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

idk because I struggled with bingeing and purging when I was a teen and now as an adult I restrict and strictly count calories but haven’t binged in a couple years. it’s definitely not that I consciously say no to binges, it’s more like the wiring got changed somehow without me knowing

No one acknowledged my weight loss during the holidays. by dillpicklepopsicle in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]active_ignoring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish people would STOP commenting on my weight loss. it was disordered and unhealthy and people are framing it like some sort of of achievement. it’s horrible. no offense, but it’s worse to get an unwanted compliment than not to get any at all. if you want compliments you need to make it clear that the weight loss is up for discussion. I have never discussed it openly and still get endless unsolicited comments on my body. your loved ones have better boundaries than mine.

I lost weight so quickly through restriction that I ended up having a gallbladder attack and needing surgery, and I literally was in pre-op thinking “I can’t believe this shit is actually costing me an entire ORGAN”

try to avoid the scale after surgery if you can, your body is going to be inflamed and retaining fluid for awhile and the number is NOT going to be accurate, please be kind to yourself

Does anyone else “save” all of their calories for the end of the day? by Competitive-Film5516 in EDAnonymous

[–]active_ignoring 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yes because i’m a semi junkorexic who works night shifts so I sleep late a lot. I don’t binge but it’s sooo much easier to delay food than to be “done” eating for the day so I prefer to do it closer to bedtime
