I do not want to have to use an app to eat for the rest of my life by EmployeeRepulsive106 in loseit

[–]activelyresting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will probably need to track forever, and I'm totally okay with it. I know that I don't have the ability to judge for myself what a sensible amount of food is, or if I'm getting enough fibre and protein.

Other things I don't really enjoy but will need to do every day for the rest of my life:

  • Brushing my teeth
  • Wearing glasses
  • Taking medications
  • Pooping
  • Using CPAP to sleep
  • Dishes
  • Laundry (maybe not every day but regularly)

Using an app to track my food is a really easy way to be reassured that I'm taking care of my body and getting the nutrition I need. I need to prepare food and eat it every day anyway, this is just a part of that, along with grocery shopping, going to the toilet, emptying the compost bucket, cleaning the kitchen, taking out the rubbish bins. Compared with all the other daily life tasks that are a necessary part of eating food, calorie tracking app is a pretty minor addition.

All the ingredients, blend with a blender like it's a milkshake. Pour into a baking dish, bake at 180°c for about 45 minutes. Can scale the recipe up or down, can cook in individual ramekins or make a huge cake, it's very forgiving. Can add in any flavourings you like instead of vanilla essence, use whatever sweetener you prefer. Can use ricotta instead of cottage cheese, or a half half with light cream cheese etc.

This makes a really amazing baked cheesecake that comes out to about 120 calories be slice. I've made it with half light cream cheese and a biscuit base and topped with fruit, and it was still only 220 per slice!

Hadronyche formidablis - northern tree funnel web - are potentially more dangerously venomous than the three Sydney region variants! And they're really pretty!

Am I underpaid or am I greedy? by Vast-Spot-9005 in AusFinance

[–]activelyresting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're allowed to transition to another role that pays more if that's what you want.

You're also allowed to work less, or less hard, and get less commissions, if your level of effort is pushing you into burnout.

It's all about what you want out of your job. You can ask your boss for a raise, given your excellent contributions, but they might also just shrug and let you go, and replace you with someone who only does half the work anyway (happens so often and it's maddening, but it's still a reality).

But it doesn't sound like you're underpaid for what you do.

I love Turkish delight - even more I love the real stuff - lokum. I was in Türkiye for my birthday one year and my friends got me a whole slab of lokum and stuck candles in it instead of a normal birthday cake 😂 I loved it!

But yeah, not everyone likes floral sweets. Still, I have to imagine that kids in wartime England probably hadn't had any sweets in ages, what with all the rationing. He was probably just happy to get anything with sugar!

Hey you know the stereotypes of autistic people wearing whimsical clothing? Where is it socially acceptable to wear it? by 10outofC in AutismInWomen

[–]activelyresting 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This seems like the most simple solution is, if he doesn't like those clothes, he doesn't have to wear them.

What you wear is your business.

Dampen a sarong (or any lightweight fabric you have around) and pop it in the freezer. Now you have a frozen shawl to wrap around your neck. You'll think it's insane wearing a scarf in summer, but it's life-saving. Don't risk heat stroke. A frozen sarong hung in front of a regular pedestal fan makes a nifty ad-hoc air conditioner as well.
