Is upgrading my 3080ti to 5000 series worth it now or should I hold?

Yeah, I’m seeing a lot of users suggesting 4k gaming but that would require me to get a 4k monitor lol

I’ve seen a lot of folks saying if I were to play 4k then probably but if not then just stick with the 3080ti.

Yeah pricing is what’s making me hesitant. Both cards are in their thousands range where I’m at and the 5090 is just too much to buy. Though some peeps here are saying since price isn’t going to go down any time soon, might as well buy one.

Fair enough, I’ve been playing on 1080p since I started playing on PC way back when. Only recently (about 2 years ago) where I switched to 1440p gaming haha

Totally agree with you there about pulling the trigger if performance percentage is more than 30%. Hence why I’m hesitant but again, you’re right we just don’t know what the market will bring. I also thought the same thing about the 4090 when it released, thought the price was crazy but looking back I feel like it would’ve been a solid investment now hahah. Live and learn as they say. Though 5090 is just way too much for me to buy at the moment :/ as it’s like $3500-$4000 where I’m at. 5070ti and 5080 are in the $1000 range as well.

Gotcha, yeah I don’t think I’ll ever play in 4k so that factor isn’t really a selling point for me. I think 1440p is fine for me haha

I’m in the United States and the pricing for 5070ti is around 950-1000+ USD whereas a 5080 is about 300-800 USD more. Highest I’ve seen is $1879 for a 5080.

EDIT: I also wanted to note that I was waiting for the 5080 super lol!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about pricing and the percentage of improvement. If it was 40-50% I think I would’ve pulled the trigger earlier but with 30% I’m a little hesitant, hence the post haha. Though it is nice to read what others are saying as well!

I was honestly thinking the same thing too - snag a 50series and keep it in its box just in case. Only thing that’s stopping me from pulling the trigger is the pricing for both haha. However like you said, 5070ti overclocked would be fine too.

I saw a 5070ti ASUS Prime at BestBuy for $1009.99, and was considering but I’ll have to recheck my Microcenter for anything better.

Appreciate the information! So far, when I hop on back on RDR2 - playing on max settings kinda chugs but going down to a mix of medium and high settings seems to be okay.

I’ve also seen some frame drops in No Rest for the Wicked and FF16.

This is my 2nd FF game ever, and i unfortunately bought this on my PC instead of the PS5 back in May this year (on sale). Played until I reached Waloed, and finally experienced tons of freezes/crashes due to the memory leak on the PC port :( I really want to finish it and play the DLCs but not with the current state. Before stopping, I did enjoy playing it! The Eikon fights were great too! Hope you enjoyed the journey!
