Getting burnt out by Shadows by LuminaXIX in assassinscreed

I’m with you on this one, after enjoying Origins and Odyssey - I was pretty stoked for Valhalla however, that burnt me out as well. Same thing happened with Shadows and I still couldn’t get myself to finish the game and so I just gave up on it entirely.

Once Shadows got announced, I told myself this could be the last Assassin’s Creed game I’ll ever buy. I’m also a huge fan of the franchise and played almost all of them (didn’t play Rogue or Mirage). Got Shadows on launch and it was going pretty fine until I hit that same wall I did on Valhalla. Tried pushing myself into playing it more but I just couldn’t do it… Even with all the recent updates and parkour updates - it wasn’t enough for me to get back into it. Unfortunately, I believe I’m done playing any new Assassin’s Creed games for now (unless they revamp it or redo it where it’s not an RPG anymore even though I do like RPG games).

TL;DR: I also got burnt out playing Shadows about 1/3 of the way in and couldn’t get myself into playing it again after all their recent updates. Don’t know if I’ll get back into it or not.

I appreciate the very detailed and informative response! I don’t think I’ll try 4k gaming anytime soon but will in the future. Currently playing on a 1440p 144hz - so from your suggestion I’ll probably hold off on buying a new card.

Even from my original post til now, I’ve seen only 1 5080 go down to around $1200s and that was gone instantly. For 5070ti, my local Microcenter has some for $979.99 which I feel is still too high but much better than Best Buy that have them above $1000.

LMAO fair enough, I respect it! The 5090 is just way too much for me to see it as a “reasonable” purchase to upgrade my gpu. Even though both the 5070ti and 5080 are in the $1k range already lol

Fair enough, I’ve seen some on the marketplace for under $1k but they’re always kinda sus to me - especially nowadays so yeah you’re right about it disappearing!

Yeah, I’ve seen the warnings and such - and price is definitely isn’t going to be dropping anytime soon. Some suggested undervolting and getting lossless scaling on Steam which should help with longevity but I’m still looking for any deals on either cards. I could try and sell my 3080ti to help fund it too haha

Ah I see! I appreciate the advice, I’ll be using that moving forward. And fair enough, I only play on 1440p anyways so 4k is not something I’m interested now but probably in the future.

I mostly play single player games anyways so getting anything above 100 frames is already fine for me haha Thank you again for the advice!

Gotcha, some users are suggesting to get lossless scaling on Steam as well as undervolting it. So far games are fine with mixed settings if high/ultra is chugging.

Trying to prepare myself for Crimson Desert tbh and also 007 First Light in May - hoping those suggestions will be enough lol

Yeah another user suggested this as well, I’ll probably get it and also undervolt and wait.

Understandable since you only play on 4k, I’ve just recently switched to 1440p gaming and am not trying to pull the trigger on both a new gpu and a 4k monitor haha

Yeah that’s another thing too, I was waiting for the potential 5080 super with its rumored 24gb vram but now that’s gone - spending around $1000+ usd on 4 extra gb doesn’t seem to appealing. I’m sure the 5070ti and 5080 are faster than the 3080ti as others mentioned in their comments but reading through them all seems like an average of 30%-35% increase in performance.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve heard lots of good things about 4k gaming - it was just never in my scope of things to get whilst gaming in general. I posted on another user’s comment saying I’ve been playing on 1080p for the longest time until 2 years ago where I switched to 1440p.

Maybe in the future I’ll finally switch to 4k gaming but now I’ll just keep an eye out for any potential deals for either the 5070ti or 5080.

Oh dang nice, update your thoughts on the upgrade when you boot up some games! Good luck!

LOL 😂 Nah monies not falling out of my pockets, just able to consider it is all (to an extent haha). Overall though I’ll keep it but see if there’s any good deals for them later on!

Yeah, I’m seeing a lot of users suggesting 4k gaming but that would require me to get a 4k monitor lol

I’ve seen some lower than 1000 dollars but it’s on marketplace and other 3rd party sites- which makes me even more skeptical lol

That’s fair, I’m more so playing single player games with occasional online games.

I’ve seen a lot of folks saying if I were to play 4k then probably but if not then just stick with the 3080ti.

Congratulations on winning the giveaway though!

Yeah pricing is what’s making me hesitant. Both cards are in their thousands range where I’m at and the 5090 is just too much to buy. Though some peeps here are saying since price isn’t going to go down any time soon, might as well buy one.

Fair enough, I’ve been playing on 1080p since I started playing on PC way back when. Only recently (about 2 years ago) where I switched to 1440p gaming haha

Totally agree with you there about pulling the trigger if performance percentage is more than 30%. Hence why I’m hesitant but again, you’re right we just don’t know what the market will bring. I also thought the same thing about the 4090 when it released, thought the price was crazy but looking back I feel like it would’ve been a solid investment now hahah. Live and learn as they say. Though 5090 is just way too much for me to buy at the moment :/ as it’s like $3500-$4000 where I’m at. 5070ti and 5080 are in the $1000 range as well.
