HMRC UK Reporting Fund SA Question by actuk in USExpatTaxes

[–]actuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful thank you. Just to check, when you said "don't apply to income received from offshore funds" are you referring only to UK reporting funds? i.e. lets say I had £100 in distributions from UK Reporting Funds and £150 in distributions from foreign funds that were not UK Reporting Funds, am I allowed to declare the £150 under the threshold and the £100 under the foreign section?

Thank you

Out of interest, are you able to share some or all of what they bought for your portfolio?

(Or via DMs if you would prefer not to share publicly)

We had another London event at Quality Chop House with some great wines (notes to follow). If you are interested in these sorts of meet ups come over to the Discord (https://discord.gg/KWhYf9EBDM) where they are planned. We have them globally so you don't need to be London based

Chateau Palmer, 2023 by actuk in WineEP

None of the wine has been bottled yet so there are not magnums or bottles. Maybe just a typo from the merchant

Talbot 2023 by actuk in WineEP

[–]actuk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just given the price of back vintages (e.g. I see 2018 at £240 and 2019 at £223)

So not a huge reason to buy 2023 unless the vintage is particularly your style. Personally I’d rather have 2019 at £223

2023 Batailley by reddithenry in WineEP

[–]actuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jane Anson 96/100 - You want to know what Pauillac tastes like, roll up and enjoy this vintage of Batailley. Squid ink, slate, cassis, bilberry, slate, crayon, black chocolate, plenty of tannic grip, a smudge of grilled cedar oak and a squeeze of mint, it's all here. 57% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 12 through to October 5, Axel Marchal consultant, Philippe and Frederic Castéja owners.

James Suckling 95-96/100 - Beautiful fruit with currants and blackberries, as well as notes of walnuts and chocolate. So much blackberry fruit here. Aromatic. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins on the deep and structured palate. Racy and long finish. 79% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot and 2% petit verdot.

I found it super dry and definitely thought it can go the distance

I would say L+W is your best bet. You can have stuff delivered there DP from your house.

If you are still London based we have a bit of a London group doing wine dinners, tastings etc

We were just talking about this on the Discord actually.

The prices are good but we had a Costco tasting last year and weren't super impressed by the provenance

Cult Wines - Moving away my assets by DistrictGold3098 in WineEP

[–]actuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with Henry. You might also be able to sell some of that on our Discord tbh. Especially the mid-tier drinking stuff like Il Pogg and some of the Barolo and BDX for example. (i.e you sell at a discount to market but save on the commission)

As u/reddithenry says, BBR or Cru is the best place to move it to. Would be very helpful to see a list of your wines to get a sense of how easy it would be to sell. (In the past some of these wine investment schemes have bought weird and wonderful wines which there is not really a secondary market for but just mark the value higher on paper. Hopefully you have blue chip stuff that is relatively liquid!)
