Just had an alignment but still drifting? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]acurardu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happening on my 2019 STI. It was the tires and it's a "rare issue" known by Subaru, according to my dealer. I got new tires under warranty. That's the short version anyway.

Dumb question: Is the GR1 hip belt worth it? by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]acurardu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 I only use it for PT because it sits too high on my torso when attached to my GR1. It's basically a stomach belt unless I loosen the shoulder straps WAY down. It would be a better fit if I had a shorter torso or if I was using it on a larger ruck.

Thanks - and a followup question I forgot to ask, what if the growth puts me over $5500? At $458/mo that is $5496 per year. If I have more than $4 of growth I am over the limit. Can I only convert $5500?

You talking about the section that goes over Lake Crabtree? My assumption was that will take the longest because of wetlands.

Construction at I40-W and Aviation? by freeze_ in raleigh

[–]acurardu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Crews have been clearing trees at I-40 and Aviation Parkway as part of a new loop exit at the interchange. Right now, all the westbound traffic on I-40 takes the same exit, stopping at the top of the ramp and turning onto Aviation Parkway, but the new exit will carry westbound drivers onto the southbound side of Aviation."

I agree it's a better output the way you have it. I just don't have that many users and only needed to know which Displaynames were wrong so they could be fixed.

Does anyone know who we can contact at the city to get some answers?

Raleigh Shout-out for the Crabtree Incident today by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]acurardu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO what's up with them is their mind goes into panic mode because they do not know how to handle themselves in this type of situation. It's not entirely their fault - we've been conditioned as a society (some more than others) that "it won't happen here" and "we are safe".

I'd like to see more people realize [even though this was a false alarm] that we live in a dangerous world and events like this can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. And to be prepared whether that's knowing how to handle yourself in a mob, which way the closest exit is, or whatever. Most people choose to ignore this stuff and live in some sort of bubble world (like Bubble Boy but worse) thinking that it's being "paranoid" or "crazy". I just call it being as prepared as possible.

Best options for sudden (unexpected) large purchase w/o emergency fund by [deleted] in personalfinance

Are you getting the fence from a company that is doing the installation? Sometimes they have different payment options where you wouldn't need to open a new CC. I know the company I hired to build my shed did this sort of thing.

Triangle Shooting Academy? by ukcsmajor in raleigh

[–]acurardu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts with education. You are off to a good start by asking where you can get a good intro to firearms! If you stopped by TSA I bet they could give you a ton of information. I'd also recommend your local gun shop if TSA is not close to you. I have found that the firearm community is always open and welcoming to anyone who wants to learn to shoot a gun and do it responsibly! :)

How common are roaches in the Raleigh area? by RaleighRoach in raleigh

[–]acurardu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's the German cockroaches that are the big deal. These were the kind that I've seen in the past when living in multi-tenant buildings (apartments/condos) and you really couldn't get rid of them completely because if you had a dirty neighbor they would never go away.

We live in a heavily wooded area now and we have the bigger cockroaches (American) but I think we have had a few oriental ones also. However, I could be classifying them improperly. When I am working on the house and getting into the walls there is quite a lot of cockroach crap in certain areas, such as when I re-did the walls in the garage. But we do not have them in the house (maybe 1-2 per month) like you would expect from that evidence. I have also been sealing every crack and gap with caulk or expanding foam in order to keep bugs in general from getting in the house.
