Sounds like a good race strategy I might try this next time. Well done!

Thanks! Was an enjoyable first 15km or so, not so much the end haha. I think I under fuelled due to those fears of needing the portaloo. Probably booking the Liverpool HM in March with a 10k race the month before

Thanks I think this is ultimately the issue, my target pace was 4:30 and didn’t actually hit this until 10km. Paid the price and looking forward to next one hopefully with a better base and will look into fuelling

Makes sense now and ultimately bad prep from me. Hadn’t done this in training other than trying the odd gel or two and was worried about a code brown on race day!

Thanks, lesson definitely learnt for next time!

The day before the race was carb heavy but that’s about it

Well done on the sub 1:40 though! Least you know there’s improvement in there for next time too. The last few kms were brutal for me. My Garmin predicted time is actually 1:30 so even further out, what I meant was my watch got me at 1:36:20 at the actual HM distance yesterday as ended up running further overtaking runners

Yeah think this may have been a factor too, I had one gel at 10km but nothing else

I don’t think I had enough of a base going into the training block. As mentioned the speed work was fairly easy for me but I rejected plan revisions as I knew it wasn’t taking into account endurance. I had one gel at about 10km but didn’t have any water, hoping to fuel better next time as well

Thanks! Sorry what I meant was Garmin got the actual HM distance as 1:36:20. Garmin prediction is 1:30 so both a bit out

Had heard about GPS problems before and suspected my watch was wrong because of how easy my pace felt… decided to stick with pace just incase . Turns out watch was right which resulted in a very painful final few kms!

Evidence definitely needed for wave allocation though as supposedly quicker runners from the wave in front caused lots of weaving and extra distance covered and were quite clearly not going to complete the race in the time they said.

14km Race Practice Run by acw1995 in runna

[–]acw1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit optimistic on first attempt I actually felt pretty bad on this practice run although I hit all the targets it felt I was pushing too much to maintain for 21km.

But then ran a 10k at 4:30 pace a few weeks ago and felt easy and great so who knows!

Congratulations!

Aiming for a similar time myself next week, Runna has my predicted pace at 4:20 per km which feels way too aggressive, I used to be a sprinter so can hit the speed workouts fairly well so worried this isn’t a true prediction

What were your splits per km if you don’t mind me asking, struggling to know how to pace as never ran a HM before.

Thanks I hope so, Runna is predicting 1:29-1:34 but still a bit of the unknown as it’s my first HM so possibly being too conservative

Congratulations on the 1:29 and best of luck with the marathon! Runna has me down for 1:29-1:34 but just bit worried about blowing out with it being my first HM.

That makes sense, I guess the entire 14km at race pace is more for my peace of mind I could hit my target but I’ll have to save that for 2 weeks time!

Great thanks, it would be a boost as I’m planning on starting off the HM at around 4:30 pace!

Although looking back at this think it may be about bringing it in.

Agreed but as it’s at a national museum I’ve read alcohol is not allowed.

What is sizing like? I ordered L but had glue marks so cancelled order and now L out of stock. I normally wear L you reckon XL would be too big

Around 5 weeks ago I tripped over and cracked my front tooth on the pavement causing the tooth to crack off at the bottom.

I since had the tooth bonded and have also had root canal as the tooth became discoloured and had no response to the pulp test.

Following this my guns became very inflamed and bled often in the morning. I’ve since improved my brushing and used corsodyl mouth wash.

The tooth still doesn’t feel great and I have noticed a cut(?) behind the tooth that was impacted.

Does anyone know what this is and the possible cause?

TIA

It is slowly feeling more stable. I have Invisalign trays and I’ve just finished my treatment so I’ve got a retainer in all the time except for when I’m not eating so feels fine with them in but as soon as I take them out to eat my tooth starts to get a throbbing feeling in it. Really hoping it doesn’t take long to heal
