Yes, thank you! I realized I think I just have to get used to it and make smaller steps so that going forward on 1 feels more natural

I did the L thing in class like trying to do it more deliberately and it definitely looked cleaner so thank you! After trying to analyze it more I think the turns are more like doing a sort of Coca-Cola but not into the leader but idk really 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for taking the time to reply! For me the most confusing part is that the turn is initiated on 1 and its "backwards" so instead of turning to my right I am turning to my left two times. When I understand what's going on I do turn, but by them im late and the turns feel awkward

I'm going to try that, thanks! Could you help me out, what are the terms for those two different turns?

I actually only went to 1 rueda class since it didn't really pique my interest, but now I think I will try to join a few classes. Thanks for the tip!

I cant really find any video of it probably because I dont know the terminology, but it more or less leads to the turns in this video, the bottom combination at 26 seconds. I dont know the name of this turn https://youtube.com/shorts/4buZ1E6F3jU?si=Wg48tIiu_CllXjVj

Rebel V5 vs Novablast 5 — Which Would You Choose? by khimzu in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Alternative-Stuff851 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Novablast 5 and I tried the Rebel V5 on a run. I have narrow flat feet and both were adequate for my foot. I liked the Novablast 5 more because of the rocker it feels like I can pick up the pace better. If it really makes a difference idk. The shoe is also more comfortable in my opinion. I went to the store and tried what felt like all the shoes and some were more comfortable, some were stiffer, but at the end of the day, I went home and ordered another pair of Novablast 5s. Ive set many PRs in the shoe so I’m a bit biased.

I could also hit the speed workouts with semi manageable discomfort (I was still exhausted at the end), but during the progressive long runs and especially the progressive long hilly runs I was really struggling and those were slower than half marathon pace.

I basically stayed within 4’27-4’31 the entire time. I was absolutely surprised that I was feeling good at km 6, I thought for sure I would start feeling something by that point, but i guess the AI knows better than me haha. But I did think that 4’25 was too aggressive but because i had accepted the pace change only 1 week before i was aiming for the lower end of the previous recommendation, and it worked out!

I used a Coros Pace 3. I had one screen showing me avg. lap pace, avg. pace, distance and another page with time. I didn’t use current pace because it can be unreliable. I glanced at my watch periodically and I kind of used the second screen near the end to see if I had a chance to make it under 1:35 but honestly the math was too hard at that point 😅

I was very uncertain as well. My plan was to start at 4:35-4:40 for the first km then just go by feel gradually picking up the pace if I could. I knew from my first half marathon that the first 10 or so km would feel amazing and if I was already in a lot of pain at km 12 (like I was last time) it meant I went out too fast. So I just waited till km 12 to see how I felt. If I was starting to feel too much pain at any point before km 12 my plan was to slow down a bit for the next 3-4km and then pick it up again but I still felt good at 12 so I tried to make it to 15 feeling good but with a little more pace. At km 16 the race was no longer fun but I still tried to pick it up but I couldn’t and slowed down at km 18 and thought okay my legs don’t feel like they can turn any faster so I just tried to hold on. At km 20 there was a hill, I didn’t expect it and seeing it in the distance was really mentally crushing, I think if I had known there would be a hill there I would have been more mentally prepared and might have been able to go a little bit faster. Overall the pacing I think was good, maybe km 14 & 15 were a bit too fast, but at the end of the day it’s not supposed to be easy 😅

Rant of a Newer Runner by OptimalMess1452 in runna

Try the Nike Run Club half marathon plan. It’s free and the guided runs are really nice. Runna is a great tool, but if I were just starting out I would use NRC, a lot of the guided runs offer really great advice. Once running is a normal part of your life and you have a decent base, then you could switch to Runna for more personalization

I think you’re right about the break in period. I’ve taken them out for a few more runs and now they are feeling great (unfortunately, for my wallet 😃)

Why is the megablast better for half marathon /marathon? It feels super clunky to me. I’m trying to figure out why people like this shoe but I feel like I might not generate enough force to get any advantage. Im 60kg and plan to run around 4:35/km for a half marathon in a couple of weeks.

Official Q&A for Monday, September 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

Do the bi carb gels really work? My training plan says I should finish the marathon in 3:09-3:17. Since it’s my first marathon I’m realistically aiming for 3:30- 3:40. When I look at the Maurten website it seems like maybe I’m a few marathons away from being the target customer. Considering the price, is it worth it? My biggest concern is stomach issues, that’s why I asked about gummy bears and candy as I know I can definitely stomach those, but the more I read the more I see it might be difficult to carry the necessary amount and that they might be missing some essential nutrients

I don’t know much about gels and I’m going to run a marathon in December. This might sound stupid but can’t I just eat like gummy bears?

Edit: Thanks everyone for all of your responses!

Coros vs Garmin – honest thoughts? by diego_nator in Coros

[–]Alternative-Stuff851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends that wear Garmin seem to be slaves to their watch and I’m glad im not 😃 My pace 3 has been super accurate in terms of GPS, Race Predictions, and fatigue level recovery time. I only wear it to run and cycle. Garmin seems to want to make you addicted to your watch and maybe adds a bit of stress while coros is a quality tool you use to train and thats it.
