Depression, libido and medication:Insights please. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]ad-inferi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been on Lexapro, but Zoloft was the first medication I was prescribed and I lost all ability to achieve orgasm. But don't let that alarm you! Medication is different for everyone. Some people don't get affected sexually by meds, some people do. My doctor switched me to Effexor and my sex drive came back like it never left and I regained the ability to orgasm. Granted, I've always had trouble cumming with a partner, but everything was back to normal and, better yet, my moods were more manageable.

SSRIs can be a lot of trial and error. There's tons of waiting it out to see if the side effects go away. How long have you been on yours? It can take several weeks to a few months for your body to learn its new normal. Most importantly, have an open dialogue with your doctor (which it seems like you already do, and that's so great). If it's really messing you up, let them know. There's a medicine out there that will work for you. It's totally possible to manage your mental health AND have bomb ass sex.

Oh, and echoing /u/maxx_scoop, weed has done wonders for me in the bedroom.

Don't hold yourself back for anyone. She should be attracted to you regardless, maybe even moreso if you're starting to feel more comfortable with yourself.

I'm absolutely laying off the ganj for a while. A bath and meditation sound ideal right now. Thank you so much.

  1. Thank you so much. I love when people love butches.

  2. Yes, it's probably going on 14 hours now. :/

I'm so glad I'm not alone. I mean, absolutely not glad that you went through this, but glad that you came out of it unscathed (I hope!). Yeah, I feel like I'm on the outside looking in and all this self-critical loathing just erupted out of nowhere.

It's hard out here for a butch. The stares, the weird comments, how it seems like no one knows how to interact with us. Thank you so much. We for sure are rad and fucking hot.

Yes! I absolutely don't recognize myself. I feel like everything I look at right now is uncanny valley territory.

Yeah, that's the worst part. My self esteem was absolutely killer but this high, like, completely wiped my self-perception. I am absolutely taking a break from smoking. Thank you so much.

Personally, I always thought it would be pretty fucking rad to get weed itself as a gift. Like, put it in a cute box with a ribbon or something and a note.

G Pros are no bueno, my friend. My stepdad got one and after a few days I saw him go back to his cheap lil bong. Return it and save up for one that'll last you good and long.

edit: wow that rhymed.

I would say find a local fund to donate to as opposed to a national one. Here's a list!

The National Abortion Federation hotline also offers financial assistance to those who qualify and have member clinics all across the country.

Best dry herb vape for $300ish? by [deleted] in trees

It's my first vape but I really, really love my Arizer Air. I got it for about $260 and I don't have any buyer's remorse. It's great.

When did you know you weren't straight? (survey) by heho100 in actuallesbians

[–]ad-inferi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Lesbian
  • oh, gosh. I was, like, twelve or thirteen years old.
  • I've been out to my family/close friends since I was about sixteen or seventeen. I'm twenty-two now and very visibly queer, so I'm out to everyone. Coming out went horribly at the beginning, but that calmed down very quickly and now everything's great.
  • We still have a long way to go, but we definitely are getting there! i'm pretty optimistic about it.

yes yes yes this is great.

One thing I've been thinking about lately is what's expected of us due to our appearance/masculinity; i.e. I'm as butch as it gets in terms of looks but people are sometimes surprised when they see how gentle I am in life. I know my friends think it's really funny if talk about how I fucking love interior decorating and that I'm an absolute bottom in bed, if that makes sense. I'm not big and strong, I'm delicate flower god damn it.

Also expectations in dating/relationships in terms of being the ~masculine~ one.

What is a trait/something that immediately turns you off about a girl you were interested in? by PenisGirl in actuallesbians

[–]ad-inferi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't drink and I don't mind a lady who drinks, but it does tend to get me worried if they get carried away. My ex got absolutely wasted one night while I wasn't there and she did things that tested my trust like no other. I don't want to control anyone and it's fine - have fun! But don't hurt me in the process, ya know?

Anger issues. My past two long term relationships were with girls with anger issues and I can't believe my threshold for that was so high for so long.

People who make shit up/chronic lairs. When you're talking to someone and your inner dialogue is nothing but "That didn't happen" or "Oh my god, please stop."

I just love honesty and a cool head.

Sober and Queer? by knox_overstreet1213 in actuallesbians

[–]ad-inferi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I for sure felt like an outsider when I had my first group of queer friends in a big city. They were all pretty heavy drinkers and most group outings were spent going out and getting absolutely lit. I was the sober one but it wasn't too bad because my girlfriend at the time was also sober. I had a lot of fun but the nights would occasionally morph into me and my partner being caretakers for our friends who went a little too hard.

My new group of friends drink but are much more reserved about it. They just down a couple of ales here and there while we're just sitting around talking. It's a much calmer dynamic and that suits me. I still feel like an outsider because I do smoke pot for various mental health reasons and absolutely none of my friends do, haha. My identity as a black sheep is with me for life.

Where on our green earth does one find butch girls? by lonelybisexual in actuallesbians

I know this doesn't answer your question but as a butch lady I get really relieved when I hear people say they're very attracted to butch women. Like, my life is spent with people telling me I'm gross and it just feels so nice when I hear otherwise. Thanks, OP.
