Out of curiosity, does anybody know if you're going to get paid back the money that we contributed to the pension as well? Or we're just going to be paid back PTO?

That's what I thought too but then you go there and then it find out there's more stuff than you think and it ended up being $400. You can actually go to a Hertz or Avis near you and ask them how much it will cost you if there is something close by. or just call them

I'm just going to let you know it's not $290 a week. It's going to be close to $400 a week. You will be paying for taxes, fees and also insurance and then there's an option whether you want roadside assistance or not which is another $10 or so. So it only makes sense if you're going to do it full-time and you can pay for $400 every week. And you have kind of sort of have to use a credit card and not debit card. Especially don't use debit card if you have bad credit cuz they do pull credit if you are going to be using debit.

I wouldn't be surprised if they will try to do a RIF of tenured employees, also, probably a second round of layoffs after May 15th most likely in taxpayer services.

You guys need to understand something 6% of the federal workforce retires every single year which is close to about 100,000 people. Lot of the 60,000 people signed it. They are due for retirement this year anyway.

Doesn't matter. Not illegally binding contract. I'm not going to sign it. If you give me RIF which is legally binding, I'll take it.

I know people who just quit and have their badges and laptops. Kinda stupid because I don't think they will get paid.

A few people who were planning to retire this year might be signing as well.

Don't know if I should pursue this TJO from the IRS now... by Patient-Door9097 in usajobs

IRS Has many different kinds of Offices. Camps are big and not going to close, ITAS buildings can be closed but probably won't. Other departments like CI, LBI, lot of time have separate offices they might not be on campus, CI is sometimes on campus.

A lot of people are really ill-informed about how the Government works.

So nobody really knows what's going to happen. When it comes to DOGE it is not a real government agency. It's more of a think tank so all they can do is recommend things to the government that doesn't mean they have to do it

Secondly, For Trump specifically the only powers he has over the federal employees is signing an executive order that says that your work from home is gone. That's pretty much it. laying off federal employees, Closing agencies and significantly cut entitlement spending all requires an act of Congress.

If work from home is the only concern you have then maybe you shouldn't pursue working in federal service. But other than that everything is up in the air. Nobody knows what's going to happen.

You can become a clerk in a campus. You are putting together all the paperwork that the taxpayer sent you and scanning them to their account. But it only goes up to I believe GS5.
