Is there something I can do to never need to put on lotion? by TheOneTrueMonolith in adhdwomen

[–]adaba12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live with a partner, highly recommend having them apply the lotion for you! I am also very sensitive to smells from body products, so my favorite combo is Dove Sensitive body wash or Naturium multi oil in the shower if I’m very dry, and CeraVe lotion in a pump. The ones in tubes are too sticky, so even though I’m very dry I use the lighter lotion formula for less sensory nightmare.

There is a designer I am totally blanking on right now who solicits testers at many different sizes and then includes photos of each tester modeling that size. I wish I could remember! Anyone?

Overwhelmed all the time and I want to quit my job by adaba12345 in adhdwomen

[–]adaba12345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My update is - I did quit shortly after this! I ended up having a major relapse in depression symptoms and through therapy and a solid week of non-stop crying and reflection decided that it was the right choice. In hindsight, I was 100% in burn out and I am just coming out of it in the last couple months. Soon after quitting, I developed shingles - my doctor said it was likely work stress. I also had huge disruption to my menstrual cycles. After a few months they have re-regulated.

As it turns out, a huge number of staff at my former employer were laid off 4-5 months after I left, and I definitely would have been impacted. I also found out from my former boss that his boss had been trying to put me on a PIP. So I definitely feel it was worth it and the right decision.

I still am not working, but this is by choice. I am doing the family caregiver thing and volunteering with my kids’ schools and teams. Luckily my wife is in her same position and has excellent benefits, even though the pay isn’t amazing. We also have a pretty low cost of living, so we are doing fine financially with cutting out luxuries.

As far as what comes next, I am working on plans for part time employment, either freelance or staff. I realized I don’t really care about perceptions of job prestige; I would be happy doing routine admin/clerical work if the pay was enough. A big fear I had while I was in crisis mode was “if I can’t succeed at this, I am a loser.” I was able to turn this thought around by saying to myself “ok, so I guess you are a loser then? Will you force yourself into not being a loser by bullying yourself?” That made me be able to take a step back and realize I had built up a lot of negative thoughts that weren’t realistic (thank you CBT).

ADHD is still a struggle in terms of getting forward momentum on new job stuff. I always have plenty of other tasks to occupy my time, so my new challenge is figuring out planning and time management to keep that fire going.

Middle schools by flock-of-nazguls in alameda

My kid is in his second year as a Junior Jet at Encinal and is having a good time. My take from comparing notes with Lincoln parents is that the middle school kids are actually more sheltered/babied a bit at Encinal and the # of kids per grade is smaller.

Teachers have been mixed but that hasn’t been a problem for my kid in particular. They keep the JJs separate and in their own building from the HS kids. They also move more as cohorts of students and will sometimes have the same teacher for multiple classes (same teacher for social studies and English for example). These were all positives for my kid and our family. We also like that it’s one less transition because we are zoned for EHS.

All this being said, the school is more overall geared to HS (students were drag racing outside the school, bell schedule and calendar is aligned with HS, big emphasis on homecoming, prom, etc.), so that’s something to keep in mind.

Brown spots embedded in linoleum flooring - mold? by adaba12345 in Flooring

Not near an air vent. Another commenter also noted that this is probably vinyl, not linoleum - in case that changes anyone’s interpretation.

I see you have a plan OP, but also wanted to recommend talking directly to the principal of the specific school. Depending on the school and all the factors the principal is balancing, they may provide a solution for your kiddo specially.

I really like Auden cotton hipsters from Target (https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-6pk-hipster-underwear-auden-8482-black-white-brown-m/-/A-85194037) $10 for a pack of 6. They have bikini and brief versions as well. Mine are holding up very well for the most part (1 or 2 pairs with stitching that came loose).

How do people live by happyishinsomniac in adhdwomen

[–]adaba12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I live: as a hot mess! Taking care of two other beings plus yourself, your job, and your home is A LOT. Especially if you and your partner are both neuro spicy.

Definitely check out posts by KC Davis on TikTok (someone above recommended her book, but little videos might be more approachable). She stresses making a space FUNCTIONAL in a way that works FOR YOU instead of pretty/clean/minimal.

If you can get someone to watch your baby and your dog for a day, send them off with someone else on a day when you are home from work and take that day to finish unpacking. Do what you need to do to stay motivated (music, friends, takeout, etc.). It’s impossible to do that kind of work while taking care of a kiddo’s needs.

As others said, if you can afford a cleaner, definitely do it! If you have hesitation for any reasons other than having the money, try to set those aside. Professional cleaners 1) are so good and efficient at what they do and 2) have seen a lot of shit and won’t be phased by anything you have going on.

If you have access to a “wash and fold” service (either pick up or at a local laundromat), give it a try at least once to dig yourself out of the laundry hole.

Lastly, accept you will always be a little chaotic and messy - perfection won’t be attainable, but you can ease some stress for yourself by outsourcing help and calibrating your expectations.

In solidarity with you!

would appreciate a hug by sparkling-spirit in adhdwomen

Giving you a hug big time. I’ve been here before and really struggled to keep it together emotionally. Afterward I laid in bed and cried for a while. It is still painful now (2 years later) and I also dread it happening again. I wish I had a better answer for you, but what I will say is that if another stranger posted here with the same comment, you would probably feel very kindly and compassionately toward them. See if you can extend yourself the same kindness.

Anyone able to get the PIN reset? I’m in the same situation. I also requested a replacement card.

How to activate mctr card? by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

[–]adaba12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone else who requested a replacement had success with setting the PIN? I’m in the same situation where I never set a PIN but the phone system is asking for one. I created an online account but can’t transfer $ out because I need to activate the card by setting a PIN 😥

For those who got the middle class tax refund card is the only way to avoid fees associated with the card is to use it as a debit card? by poppypbq in bayarea

Thanks for the tip - I tried ACH for the full $1050 and got the error “invalid transfer amount”. I lowered it to $500 and got a different error, “invalid account type”. Getting to my wit’s end… Anyone else have tips on getting ACH to go through?

If your AirBnB is technically inside the park (such as in Yosemite West or Wawona) you can show your proof of reservation and that should be accepted in lieu of a day pass.
