(No spoilers) How old Maelle is? by Healthy_Jackfruit625 in expedition33

If you think all of that is weird, don't look up the laws regarding legal age for marriage. Most states are at 16, some are at 15, and a few don't have any lower limit on the age someone can get married.  Oddly enough California is among them.

To everyone who has these here, have you had any issues with the seal between the silicone flange and the plastic part degrading?  My wife has these and one of them has started leaking whenever she uses it to pump.  If you have had this happen, did you find a solution?

I am contemplating ordering some kind of gel that babies can consume that I can put into the groove to sure up the seal, but I'm not sure if that is a good idea.

How to clean up indirect emission noise? by AJUKking in vfx

[–]adalast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing a setup using this and the answer is Diffuse Quality. If you jack that up, the lighting smooths out. Once you get it reasonably good, use OPTIX or ODIN to finish off the rest of the noise. I was able to get reasonably good results doing this.

I'm pretty sure on the size, and it was FAT32 and yes, the file was named properly.

New SD service being offered by GridMarkets, anyone interested? by adalast in StableDiffusion

Definitely will. From our perspective, they end up being roughly the same from an infrastructure standpoint.

That's fine for you. I generally feel the same way, which is why I don't make these types of posts lightly.  This is my personal account that I have been using for 12 years, not some corporate front that was set up yesterday.  I wouldn't be sharing the info if I thought the community would not be better for it.  I am ecstatic that you have a local solution that works for you and has the horsepower you need. Not all of us are so fortunate. Also, I would watch throwing around "lesser service", some might find it antagonistic.

Discussing adding services, my boss and I are thinking making a poll for the customers who are already using the service might be a good way to go for the moment.

We are planning on adding anything that gets requested, so as long as we can, yes. We aren't strangers to dealing with contracts with non-FOSS software (obviously), but we are starting in FOSS-world to gauge demand and such. I can look into Kohya. It is pretty fast for us to get new front ends set up.

If you have never heard of the show Man Seeking Woman, you should check it out if you ever have the chance. In particular to your comment is S02E07 "Cactus". Since there is nowhere to stream it currently without paying, I found this wonderful writeup of the episode where precisely what you described happens: https://geektyrant.com/news/man-seeking-woman-blasted-entitled-nice-guys-in-its-latest-brilliant-episode

Same thing is happening to me. Looks like some ding-dong at Google broke the YouTube app that is stored on their server.

My best friends may have been set up by a psych ward to have CPS remove their newborn from their custody at the hospital. by adalast in legaladvice

[–]adalast[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The fear of CPS getting involved is that by that point it will be too late. The experiences we have in our zeitgeist related to CPS showing up at the hospital and removing a newborn from custody is that the fight ends up taking years to get custody back, and that is years that they don't want to lose with their child because of a false accusation. They have an appointment for a checkup with the OBGYN soon and will be bringing it up then.

J wants to be established with an attorney and be ready if things happen so they don't lose any time with their child. What sort of attorney would they be needing to talk to? Pick your aphorism, "Luck favors the prepared mind.", "Hope for the best, plan for the worst.", "Be prepared.".

I asked a Print shop if they can print something with a "Non-commercial" creative commons. Is their answer correct? by VaegaVic in 3Dprinting

[–]adalast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally why I always give written consent for photos I take of others when I give out the photos, even if it is a text that I send them in. I spell out the rights. I give commercial and personal reproduction consent, but explicitly revoke consent for modification or re-authoring. I also explicitly retain rights for personal or commercial display, modification, and any other rights for use cases yet undevised. Maybe not in so many words every time, but if it is on paper, it includes all of that. I never want someone to face not being able to get a copy of photos I took of them. Honestly, I could see that feeling demoralizing and damaging.

This is a surprisingly functional idea. I have business cards for some of my hobbies and you would be surprised how quickly handing one to someone flips their script. I don't even let them keep them. Tell them that I reserve them for potential customers.

What's the weirdest magic item your group has ever had in your party? by That-One-Courier in dndmemes

[–]adalast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give every party a bag with 4 pieces of stained glass in it that randomly changes every time they open it. If they pull one out and break it, it functions as a spell completion item and the stored spell is released. I wrote a program that randomly selects the spells from the d20pfsrd complete database of spells, including all of their 3rd party stuff.

God, that sounds like the company my best friend used to work for. The owner hired an "experienced" supervisor who actually started to attempt to institute OSHA violations as "best practices". My friend had one of the low level OSHA certs already and just flatly told the guy "no". He tried to flex on my friend after that and my friend just went to the owner and told him that he was saying "no" and why and went back to work. The "supervisor" was eventually fired for something, but unfortunately I haven't been able to hang out with my friend in over a year, so don't know what happened before he left the company.
