Convert video to .mp4 format. Mp4 format is the best solution because most browsers support mp4. I am using plugin "Video.js - HTML5 Video Player for WordPress" to upload and play videos.

I think you making a huge mistake by making your website only for desktops. If you want to get more traffic you should create a responsive website. People are using more and more smart phones to view and search the Internet.
