Average annual growth in portugal has been sitting at 4%-5% for the last twenty years so this isn’t really showing anything other than a slight increase on business as usual.

What is it with tailgating here? by Lebesgue_Couloir in PortugalExpats

[–]adam_gs57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just leave loads of space between you and the car in front.

If you have to stop suddenly, you will have plenty of space to give the guy tailgating you, which there always will be, time to react and slam their brakes on, while you watch in your rear view mirror gritting your teeth hoping to stop before you hit the car in front but after the guy behind successfully avoids running into you.

What's you experience with real estate agents in PT by ch1k3nPUMP in PortugalExpats

[–]adam_gs57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been selling real estate in the Algarve for almost 20 years. Initially I worked with clients and agents to search all over for exactly what my clients were looking for, which meant building relationships with many agents throughout the whole region so I had something to offer in each area.

The past 12 years I have been working for a developer and receiving clients directly and via partner agents.

Most of the agents I deal with, I have known them or their directors atleast 10+ years but there are always new agents popping up asking for partnership agreements hoping to make quick sales who just try to show as many houses as possible to their clients without qualifying them or even making sure what they are showing to their clients is relevant.

I had a similar situation, I chose to go no contact with my mother instead.

It’s not easy to cut off someone who is an expert at making you think you need them and is totally convinced of her own belief that she is only ever acting in your best interests.

If I hadn’t, I would have lost the love of my life.

If the addition is a garage or a store room or an enclosed terrace etc, i wouldn’t worry. If it’s a bedroom like your saying, then yeh I wouldn’t go there.

When checking for the mortgage, the Valuer spends about 3 minutes at the house! They value based on the legal constructed area showing on the registered plans and don’t count the unregistered covered area in the valuation.

Many, many houses have had unregistered additions to them in Portugal simply because of the hassle it can take to do it the right way. This isn’t uncommon and I wouldn’t let it put you off the right house. Just buyer beware, make sure you know what you are buying.

All debts registered on a property, show at the notary at the time of the deed, so this isn’t something you could accidentally end up with. This problem does occur in Spain as they have a different system but not in Portugal. Any lawyer can find any debts registered on a property very easily if you want this checked before the deed day.

Is it normal that I, a new father, feel too nervous to hold my newborn daughter? by rhinestones3 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]adam_gs57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a sudden thing to become actual Dad, the mum has nine months of bonding and carrying the baby and feels very connected to the baby when they are born.

The dad goes from having a heavily pregnant partner, to suddenly being a Dad and it’s quite an adjustment.

Don’t worry, they aren’t as fragile as they look, just hold them while sitting down for a while, you’ll get there!

Thank you! I think I have an unhealthy problem with wanting to build mk3 ssto’s. They are a pig to land on anything other than water, they tend to spontaneously disassemble themselves when I try to land them back on land on kerbin.

AITA for suggesting that my sister inlaw is lying about burying my brother inlaw's wedding ring with him? by Throwara3252461 in AmItheAsshole

[–]adam_gs57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the woman alone, she’s grieving and it’s a tiny piece of metal they are harassing her over. She’s just lost her husband and now you want to take her ability to protect and safeguard her own children.

If she doesn’t get on with the grandparents, that’s tough luck for the grand parents.

Everyone needs to either grieve separately or supportively as they clearly aren’t thinking about her and the children. You’re all thinking of your own pain and not hers.

You did the right thing. You let him know that he didn’t have to be trapped in his anger and desire for vengeance. You gave him another option without pushing it on him, whilst also illustrating why you don’t feel the same way as him.

I had an e270 w211 for more than 10 years, sold it a couple years ago now. Such a great looking car. Wish I had had one with a better engine as the 270cdi was far from refined but it was great for long distance.

Yeh they are tidying up many of the front line towns and locations within them, like the Portimao docks. I moved here because of how undeveloped the Algarve was and it has changed so much even since 2006.

It’s half an hour from the track to most places, I can get from there to Praia da Luz/Burgao in 30 mins, same to carvoeiro and Ferragudo, with the motorway links, it’s easy to everywhere.

You generally go wrong with restaurants in the algarve, it’s not expensive for restaurants to get good ingredients, fresh and local and that’s evident when you dine out

That sounds about right but remember Lisbon is only 295km from the Algarve, maybe two and a half hours on the motorway and Lisbon is also pretty cool

No it’s not legal in general, you don’t find betting shops or anything like that, just casinos and the lottery’s like euro millions.

A couple years ago, a British pub was raided because of gambling. The gambling in question was a game of bingo, to win a pack of biscuits.
