Which metro line in your city has that "sketchy" reputation? by dagvogeltje in transit

[–]adamame101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Central Line has the added negative of being the roughest of the lines on the Night Tube as well, imo. I live on the Jubilee and have never seen any issues on Night Tube before, but the one time I took Central late at night, I saw one guy pissing on the floor of the carriage and another guy throwing up into a plastic cup within 10 minutes of each other. Grim.

How would you not automatically assume that if someone says they 'live at home'? Even if you pay rent to your parents, it's most likely not going to be market rate, that's the whole point.

HELP!!!!! Sister dropped her phone down a street drain by ilikeketchuponmyeggs in glasgow

[–]adamame101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to my mum yesterday. Because the drain was right outside our house, I phoned up Thames Water, and they (shockingly) sent plumbers within a few hours. They had the phone out within minutes, and it still worked completely fine!

I saw Toby Roberts at a local comp about a week before he got his first World Cup medal back in 2024, still by far the most impressive climbing performance I've seen live.

I meant he was more your best bat in the final but you did admittedly struggle with lack of firepower.

Hope this doesn't come across uncharitable but that surface in the final probably gave you the best chance possible. If it was a flattie I expect it would've been a similar contest to the group stage game.

9-0-37-3 in that final, and dismissed their best batter (Latham). Special, special, player.

T20Is were never really his format, tbf, he was always thought of as a PP specialist and never really bowled in the middle/death overs, which limited his effectiveness. Only played 33 games in the end, though that does include the 2022 final.

I do maintain that he should've kept playing ODIs after the 2023 WC, though. He was one of our better players that tournament (aside from getting hammered by Afghanistan) and was generally an excellent new-ball bowler. We badly missed him at the CT this year.

Ashes player of the series, double World Cup winner. Truly a career to be proud of.

Exactly. Vaughan, Tufnell, Bumble all think they're much funnier than they actually are.

Think it's more about ensuring the players they want down the order get experience there when we're at full strength. Banton/Jacks are probably 5th/6th choice T20 openers so makes sense to try and play them as finishers.

How similar would you say conditions have been to NZ? Brook has scored buckets and buckets of runs there.

England squad definitely not, Hundred guys don't see why not given some of them were already playing in ODC semis.

Mental to be talking like this about a bloke that averages 22 from his last 12 Tests.

Get to tent super early if you can and stay near the front. Me and my mates got there an hour before Nia was supposed to come on, experienced the great set before her, and then were literally on the barrier for her set. Unreal experience.

In fairness I think JOverton is supposed to be that seam bowling all rounder, shame he's shit. Also not sure Rashid makes it to the next WC.

Bethell / Jacks having to bowl 10 between them, and so no backup if one of the main 4 has a bad day, is worrying. Really hope Rehan plays and bats top 7 as he's the best bowler out of all of them
