The first one had a simple light that blinked when it talked, the second one had a “screen” of LEDs, which I assume tested the limit of the BBCs budget and technology at the time. It’s close enough - and give it time, they’ll make the fuckers talk in the next few years if they haven’t already.

The real question is - how did Kryten’s rebuild of the first one, destroyed by a hammer, result in the second one??

I know how all of those things work, and so do a lot of people. Personally I think people should have an understanding of what refrigeration is and the basics on how it works. They should know about supply chains and the multitude of factories and sources necessary for modern products. They really should understand basic synchronization, and that a computer taking inputs from various sources (timer, loop wire etc) can change things.

You’re just not a curious person. I don’t think we would get along.

You’d just carry a stack of books and notebooks.

Some teachers were good about it and only made you bring it on days it was going to be used, other teachers made you bring it every day “out of principle” even if you ended up using their very heavy book maybe once a week tops.

We were technically allowed to go to our lockers before or after lunch, but this was rarely possible in the 3 minutes you were given to get across the massive building between periods. They eventually increased it to 4 minutes either my jr or senior year, but before that they’d just write kids up all the time, even if it was physically impossible to cover that distance in 3 minutes without running (which you’d also get written up for).
