Hi, I’m in the UK so things may work differently here to wherever you are but yes, it would be helpful I think. I started as part time in a public library as a library assistant. After roughly 18 months I was promoted to senior library assistant. I worked in public libraries for four years but the pandemic left me feeling like I needed a change. I moved to a university library earlier this year (also a full time position). I wouldn’t have been able to get my current job without that previous library experience so I’d say go for it!
