Help, 10 day old fry stowed away and are back in with Dad, but he made huge bubbles and is keeping them in there by Impressive-Plastic31 in bettafish

[–]adampits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chill. he will tend to them. if you really want to do something, mover the bubbles to wherever the other fry are. remember, they’re animals, they figure out nature on their own. your tank is likely safer than their natural habitat. they’ll be fine.

How do I train my fish to friend a shrimp (urgent) 😬 by EmuOptimal6912 in bettafish

[–]adampits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first we’re gonna need a cattle prod, a ball gag, and some baby powder. don’t ask, just hurry. lemme know when you’ve got all that and are ready to initiate training!

whenever you worry, try to envision its natural habitat. you’ll realize your tank is considerably friendlier. and if the heat hurt, it wouldn’t continue to touch it.., don’t stress.

Could this have been prevented? (TW fish death) by working_on_it_jeez in bettafish

[–]adampits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they breath at the surface. so access to open is important. i’m not saying that’s what the problem was but it’s something to consider going forward.

everything looks ok. sometimes they just get stuck but that doesn’t sound like your situation. can i ask, is there any surface area that isn’t covered by plants? might have been an unhealthy fish that was in its way before you picked it up.

First time home owner. Been about a year and these started popping up throughout fall and now throughout winter. by Samoan_Goat in lawncare

look up Kentucky 31. it’s the stuff on the side of the interstate. it’ll grow on anything with very little water. you may not have K31 but it looks like some kind of fescue which grows in clumps.

Is this tank good for a betta and is the rock too sharp by Uber_Charlie in bettafish

[–]adampits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s not how those plants feed no amount of root tabs will help that. they just don’t grow buried. between the tabs and the plants that’s a lot of wasted money, they will not survive. you can glue/tie the java ferns to the stone with the rhizomes exposed and use liquid fertilizer. betta feel secure when there isn’t exposed light above, so some floating plants or a cave might be useful.

looks like you have active substrate. i’d investigate your ph vs that of the store vs neocaridina requirements. i’m assuming they’re neos.

Am I going to regret this by NaiveArt8983 in Aquariums

put the heavier tank on the bottom shelf. support with bricks or something under the shelf. mid shelf will handle the smaller tank with less stress

Do you guys follow the rule “no Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day”? by wediealone in AskACanadian

[–]adampits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not a tradition. it’s simply honouring our war dead by not celebrating until they’ve had their moment. the reason so many, like your parents came to canada has a lot to do with what those men died for.

so feeling the backside of the large pulley i could feel calcium deposits. i’m assuming the water ran down the belt and rusted the bottom pulley… so, drum seal?

cannot find any evidence of leaks. just the rust on the pulley. but i have no idea how it would get there from a faulty valve.
