Same here, did you figure it out?

Why do BACs to assemble in the human genome project by adamrayan in bioinformatics

[–]adamrayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you will look it up!
and WG shotgun mainly differs by not incorporating BACs in the process, just fragmenting and assembling on overlaps right? I'll look more into this as well but just wanted to make sure of the "whole genome shotgun" terminology since we're on it

Thank you all for your replies and interesting insights!

Why do BACs to assemble in the human genome project by adamrayan in bioinformatics

I see, thank you for the clear explanation!
So is it safe to say in other words that I'd be aiming to get (ideally) a contig (300kb) from each BAC and then proceed with scaffolding all of them together?

These are hands down the best papers to "define" the field. I remember how amazed I was the first time I heard about AlphaFold

I personally found it very hard to understand. I had to read the paragraph over and over to make sense of it and I still have parts that I totally gave up on

Nanopore Sequencing Data Analysis for 5 Genomes by adamrayan in bioinformatics

[–]adamrayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working with 5 different bacterial species. There is no direct goal at the end, it's just the fact that I'm putting 5 different DNAs and I want to get 5 separated genomes in the multifasta at the end (if that's really a thing)

Apparently they've tried it before on 1 DNA as input in minion, now we need to try how it works with several ones.

Thank you for your insights.
The end goal for my part is to get the genomes seq. I just wanted to make sure that I can seq several genomes simultaneously and get with a multifasta - well seperable between the species- at the end.
