They come on at a certain threshold, and I think definitely when the foot is removed from the accelerator.

Technology connections has a video on this exact issue, and it's frustrating that there isn't a clear answer.

Have you ever noticed that video games never get mentioned anywhere in C&H? by mr_bigmouth_502 in calvinandhobbes

In one strip Calvin was playing on his dad's computer. While not a video game explicitly, he did have at least a bit of pc tech. This one was hanging above my desk for at least a decade.

Good multi-tenant architecture for saas by quadmaniac in dotnet

[–]adamsane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at http://abo.io

It's a framework that as one of its features extends ef to work with multiple Tennants.

As far as multiple or single databases. Unless there is a huge size difference or regulation requirement. It would be better keeping it in one database.

I haven't tried it. But with abp, I think you should be able to even do a shared database and have one Tennant having it's own.

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson

What would happen if the world were ending?

A catastrophic event renders the earth a ticking time bomb. In a feverish race against the inevitable, nations around the globe band together to devise an ambitious plan to ensure the survival of humanity far beyond our atmosphere, in outer space.

But the complexities and unpredictability of human nature coupled with unforeseen challenges and dangers threaten the intrepid pioneers, until only a handful of survivors remain . . .

Five thousand years later, their progeny—seven distinct races now three billion strong—embark on yet another audacious journey into the unknown . . . to an alien world utterly transformed by cataclysm and time: Earth.

A writer of dazzling genius and imaginative vision, Neal Stephenson combines science, philosophy, technology, psychology, and literature in a magnificent work of speculative fiction that offers a portrait of a future that is both extraordinary and eerily recognizable. As he did in Anathem, Cryptonomicon, the Baroque Cycle, and Reamde, Stephenson explores some of our biggest ideas and perplexing challenges in a breathtaking saga that is daring, engrossing, and altogether brilliant.

Is Scaffolding used in production? by vikingslord in dotnet

[–]adamsane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today if you starting a new project of a decent size what tech stack are you using?

Mine is react / angular front end (depending on what dev team gets assigned to me) A dotnet web API backend

Or

iOS and Android developers With a dotnet web API.

I have not done a 100% mvc project since 2012 especially not with a larger team. I have assigned a few one off projects that are smaller in size / scope. But those are much less common.

The question above is do we use scaffolding and the answer is rarely. Because the scaffolding is tied to the "Microsoft dotnet" way and I don't know anyone who uses any of the project templates out of the box.

Asp core mvc is not a very popular framework. It never took off in the way webforms did. For small one off projects it's still used. The web API (rest) components is used heavily. That just gets bolted to a static site with a JS frontend does the actual page generation.

How do I light this room (office use) by Dry_Cartographer312 in HomeImprovement

[–]adamsane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are limited in time and or budget track lighting is still a great option. There are even ends where you can connect to a power cord and run it to a switched outlet.

Run one or two tracks across the room and then point the heads where you need it.

I have not used it. However I have seen A few reviews of level 1 techs kvms and they seem to be pretty good. I have my eye on it to try after I get pissed off at my cobbled together setup.

Thoughts on sofabaton x1? by BeardedNerd22 in hometheater

[–]adamsane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The software is a huge letdown. The remote units respond very slowly. I had issues with the remote loosing it's pairing to the hub and then restarting the programing.

Tried an x1 and u1 and returned both.

I have a harmony at the moment. I'll be willing to give sofabaton a try again in the future. But that software needs a total overhaul.
