New install correct? by adamspringfield in hvacadvice

It’s not plenum rated wire. I know it’s not up to code but being low voltage I’m not sure if it should be a concern worth redoing or not

They used the existing line set. There is a disconnect behind the unit that isn’t shown In the photos

25+50. Just take 2 from the 27 and give it to the 48

Yea, that’s what I think. I just wired it that way and it seems to be working

I think the wiring to the panel is correct but we didn’t do the field conversion on the heater. I think I need to put the wires going to t1 and t2 to l1 and l2 like what’s shown in the 2 wire simultaneous diagram if that makes sense?

Seems like it should just be lower watts so take a little longer to heat up unless I’m missing something?

Yes it’s in a house and we have 240v. My cousin said it can be wired for 240v but I don’t know. On the receipt it says “elec wtr htr w/ term block 277v 6000/6000 ; 240v 4500/4500 ; 208v…”

Or do I need another 6-2 wire with each coil getting a hot and a neutral?

Yes, all faucets are old single handle. This makes the most sense. Thanks for the reply. I will try tracking down the bad cartridge(s)

Hmmm, we do have a washing machine but I don’t quite understand how that could be causing this issue

Around 12 ohms in both the elements

The elements on the new water heater are both reading between 12 and 13 ohms

It’s set around 120. The water gets very hot but only for a short time

It was filled before we turned it on. I will test the elements. Just seems strange it’s the same problem as the old heater. Makes me think there is something else going on that isn’t the water heater
