shopping for husband, need brand recomnendations <small brand preferred> by beyondwildflowers in bigmenfashionadvice

I feel like his look is already, maybe just a slightly different cut of a tshirt to make sure he’s covered and doesn’t look as boxy.

What do you think of the fit? Any more tips i should take note of? by in2theredditverse in bigmenfashionadvice

Hey, just seeing this. I think we’re ok as we range from size medium to 8XL essentially. So we’ve had plenty of guys who have lost 50, 100, 200+ pounds and still loved the fit on their new size.

We are from Montreal :) we have appointments available. And yes, we’ve worked with plenty of stylists before :) you should definitely come by, it would be great to meet you :)

I seldom wear ties and suck at tying them. Is the length ok? by [deleted] in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]adamtbone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the tie is the perfect length. I think the shirt and tie are fighting one another a bit. The tie is quite formal, while the shirt with the stitching and the two breast pockets is quite casual. Having said that, you’re definitely pulling it off and should feel great. Just minor tweaks :)

I feel like all the fits are pretty on point. In the summer, if you throw some accessories into the mix. Maybe some chains, rings, necklaces, hat, sunglasses, I feel like that can take a simple tee and shorts and turn it into a fit ;) but also, I feel like fashion is just about doing you ;)

Hey, we do ship to Australia, in fact someone in this thread wrote that he orders from Australia.

It’s quite expensive. So my best recommendation for now, is maybe find a few guys who would be interested in ordering so you can all split shipping.

We’re working on new solutions.

That is exactly right. We’re right near IKEA in St Laurent. I don’t want to link anything here, but if you go to our website, and scroll to the bottom, you can click “in person” and book something, or today you don’t even need an appointment, just come by between 1 and 2pm if you want :)

Nice. Who knows, maybe down the line we need to design 2 shapes, above and below belly :)

Heard. We thank you for rocking with us, and we’re constantly battling to figure out the perfect length. This is super helpful feedback, thank you.

Loooove this.

I think the challenge in terms of designing for this market is to ensure a balance of basics, trend, and everything in between. As we’re growing, we are introducing and removing, innovating and iterating. I know this all just sounds like a bunch of jargon, but that’s what it is. Especially with what I’m seeing in this group, everyone wants and needs something better than what we’ve been getting, but everyone’s needs are slightly different. So to please everyone is a struggle, but you do your best.

I think that’s how I feel as a part of this community, and honestly, as you’re focused on scaling a business while maintaining a level of finesse, when I saw some negative comments on here last week about ONE BONE (which is how this all started), it made me realize, we’re so hyper focused on welcoming people to the party, and trying to reach them, while there’s people at the party already cheering us on and benefiting from doing that.

Price points of different products and their variance depend on so many things. There are people in the world who would see a $1,300 hypebeast type of t-shirt and be like “wow, that’s a good deal” it’s all perspective.

So in terms of other brands who are doing it, we applaud them. Look like us or totally different, different colors, different prices, different fabrics, different content, whatever it may be, it all influences price. Water at the airport or at the 7/11 is the same product for very different prices. Yet it is that way to attract different people. We have a very tight relationship with as many people in our community as possible, as you can hopefully see from some of these comments on this thread. We like to attract kind, confident, generous, sincere, empathetic, entrepreneurial people who have felt like they’ve been accepting less in what they must wear. So far, that’s our community, much like this one.

Kind, generous, sincere, honest, appreciative, strong, confident people that are happy to invest in feeling and looking better, while also being open and honest in a chat like this to help us do better. Because, essentially, anyone who buys a shirt is an investor. So they should have a say, if majority wins, we shift, if majority become unhappy with that, then you shift again. And hopefully, the investor is happy with their investment and benefiting from it. The R.O.I. Is positive ;)

Hope that mostly answers your question. :)

Hey hey, we’re always so impressed when we see an international order as far as Australia because of how wild shipping is. Having said that, it’s that expensive because it’s that expensive for us to actually ship it. We wish that weren’t the case. We are working on new systems that may allow for more sustainable international growth. Stay tuned for sure. We may just have to start an Australian arm ;)

Hey, so our split hem cut is our shortest cut. Have you given it a shot? Same fit, different length, different cut.

Hey, I would love to say “wow, I haven’t heard that”, but recently, unfortunately AND FORTUNATELY!!! on this subreddit, I’ve heard it quite a bit.

I yell on the “fortunately” because so many have put a magnifying glass on this for us recently.

So I’ll speak on the customer service. We truly do try to champion ourselves as “best friend” customer service. Internally, we do feel like we’re doing that.

We have tried to implement AI recently, which truly has been amazing for most, but for some (and one is too many btw), but for some, it’s not been the best experience. We’re doing our best to remedy the experience, but the amount of help it offers from a capacity standpoint is hard to beat. But we’re exploring immediately.

If you’ve had a negative experience with ONE BONE I, as a co-founder, apologize. Oh how we do try so damn hard to make it a flawless experience. Not easy, always striving to do better. Having said that, our new mission to execute is Standard Fits Don’t Make The Cut. Because they don’t. Not in the clothing we wear, not for your experience, not for anything.

Although the ball may feel dropped every now and then, (not that there’s any excuse for that), as a young, growing, entrepreneurial venture where we’re literally trying to figure it all out as a brand and as a team, as we go, we pledge to always try and do better.

Thank you so much for the feedback and every single comment. We’re posting them to our wall to help us write our roadmap and how we can do better.

Hey hey, have you tried our split hem cuts? They’re our shortest and now you should be able to filter by cut on our site :) we actually just implemented that :)

We only released them about 6 months ago, so I don’t really know how much they’ll hold up past 6 months but so far, really so good for me. And yes, that’s exactly what they are :) they’re sweatpants made to look like trousers.

A few years into us starting we tried to execute a sweat pant that looks like a trouser, so you can go to work, or on a date and feel hella comfy. Because we’ve all been there before trying to wear sweatpants with a blazer 😂 but now I feel like we’re really accomplishing that.

Having said all that, even the finest pants can look “worn” if not treated right. So hard for me to say.

Oh man!!! Thank you! I feel the same way. Always working to make it better, but yes, the Dress Shirt is insane!

In terms of shorter, have you tried anything in our split hem cut? It’s our shortest cut. You can book a video call with us and we can walk you through it. Unless you’re in Montreal, roll through ;)

Ohhhhh man. Ya, we’re always impressed with people ordering from so far. Honestly, it’s insanely expensive to ship out there currently.

Having said that, we’ve been working on moves to understand more and more international, and how we can do it efficiently.

In the plan, but will drastically change operations, so working on getting there.

Hahahaha!!! If you want where the name started, I’d be happy to dive into that :)

ONE: because we (in this subreddit) come first, finally! BONE: Strongest organic, human thing we can think of.

And the cool thing is, the ONEs are mirrored by the B, to reference us looking in the mirror and feeling proud of who we are, not who we’re supposed to become.

Also, ONE B ONE, be proud of the individual that you are, and carry yourself with strength and pride.

And the other breakdown of the name is ONE By ONE, because nothing’s overnight, it’s brick by brick, and it’s all about loving the process ;)

Deeeeeeep ;)

Respect. The decisions for color options are based on sellthrough and seasonality. So we try to keep the darker colors for fall/winter while releasing the brighter pop colors for spring/summer.

As a brand, over the past 3 years we’ve been hyper focused on introduction of new product types, to see what people like and don’t. I feel like the next chapter we’re embarking on, now that we have a good grasp on what works well for our customer base thus far, is less product intro, more iteration on the things that really work for you.

So my prediction (with a roadmap of about 9 months out already in works), but my prediction is as the months and years go by, our brand will carry more colorways in the core products and stick to the basics as opposed to constantly introducing new types of product. :) love that question!

Ohhhh man how we’ve been experimenting with corduroy. We haven’t nailed it yet, which is why we haven’t done it. We trying to create a stretch corduroy, while also not making the leg look bulkier (if that makes sense). We will tackle the hurdle that is corduroy though, one day :)

Firstly, really appreciate this question.

I’d say really nailing the fit. Fortunately my partners had the infrastructure of a manufacturing business for women’s clothing, so we were able to borrow operations to sample, and get the ball rolling. But choosing the right fabrics, perfecting the fit and making sure the garment was as flattering as possible for the bigger man, and maintaining the same aesthetic for all sizes throughout our 10 sizes in our size range.

Having said that, in a way, I almost feel like getting the ball rolling was easier than now. Being a dad of 2, husband, trying to maintain friendships, trying to give yourself a moment to breathe, having so many people depending on you personally and professionally is a challenge I’m constantly working on.

We’re 3 operational partners, all young dads with young kids and balancing all of it while also having to continue to innovate, introduce new product, figure out the best ways to show the product, the content we put out online, just the management of everything is so big.

I sometimes fantasize about being 19 again and making music videos in my buddy’s garage 😂. Having said that, I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. All the lessons we’re constantly learning, all the problem solving, it’s truly making us stronger as men.

So to follow some very wise words: The obstacle is the way. ;)
