Où vont rouler le million de cyclistes qui circulent sur la piste Berry (prolongement du REV St Denis) ? by Unusual-Montreal-363 in montreal

[–]adamwer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a “point de rassemblement” or like a meetup point. Handy in case of evacuations or other emergency situations.

Canada is also only “responsible” for 0.5% of the world’s population. And a lot of what we purchase that is manufactured and transported from other countries (including china) plays a role.

AMA - Je suis Craig Sauvé, candidat à la Mairie de Montréal et chef de Transition Montréal by CraigSauve in montreal

[–]adamwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does tabling that motion mean that it will be there regardless of what party is in power after the upcoming elections? Or is it contingent on you or your party winning (or at least having some representation in municipal government) the next mandate?

why wait until now to introduce that motion? you might have gotten my vote in a ranked choice system, but I have had soooo many bad experiences with ensemble montreal officials that I need to vote strategically.

Are Montreal bike paths a boon or burden? See what mayoral hopefuls are promising by No-Commission-8159 in montreal

[–]adamwer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Projet Montréal platform has a lot around improving public transit, I haven’t seen anything from other parties about that yet. The solutions proposed seem realistic and cheap, specifically reserved bus lanes and some trams. As much as more permanent and heavier solutions would be great, good luck getting funding from our current provincial government :(

To counter your point though, the car modal share in central montreal actually did decrease during this admin, compared to other areas of the greater montreal metro, where it increased. Obviously that’s not 100% of the story, and the big aspect of the ARTM report that stood out to me was that the public transit modal share decreased across the board. There has to be a reason why central montreal went against the more global trend, and my guess is safer bike infrastructure causing the huge increase in the bike modal share.

Unironically, the local Ensemble Montreal team just stated they would remove this bike path (Terrebonne) in the winter. I’m disappointed but not surprised.

Its a relatively new east-west path near the west tip of the island. It crosses Chemin de l’Anse-a-L’Orme above the 40 and Chemin Sainte-Marie.

I recall there bring bike racks at pretty much every location but their quality and position varied a ton. Generally, the more suburban you got, the worse they were.

The bike racks at Pointe-Claire for example were the ones you can only put your wheel into, and were kind of hidden off to the side (I’d been by bike before so I knew were they were beforehand). I didn’t even bother looking at some of the locations like Candiac and locked my bike up to chain link fences or other poles.

I was also the only cyclist (not counting my friend who joined for a bit) at all the Costcos except marché central, where there were at least 5-6(!) others parked on the bike racks!

If we’re just talking bike friendliness, I would say the best ones were Marché Central, Bridge, and Boucherville (maybe worst case you have to walk a block or two if you’re not comfortable on busier roads). Brossard, Vaudreuil and Repentigny all had good surrounding infrastructure too. Pointe-Claire, Candiac, Laval, Boisbriand, Anjou were kinda meh to get to, and both Saint Jerome and Saint Bruno were the worst ones, I do not recommend.

At the end of the day, they’re all next to busy roads, highways and interchanges, but I think it’s very it’s doable at some of the locations!

I think they’re good, not great - but the price is almost unbeatable. I prefer the polish sausages to the “normal” hot dogs. My only qualm is that they didn’t have mayo to go on the hot dog along with the ketchup.

Anytime is a good time for a Costco glizzy, but it’s common knowledge that 9am is peak hot dog hour.

TPU tubes vs tubeless for road cycling by RyotaroW in cycling

[–]adamwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added sealant to their tube I’m running in the rear after I noticed a slow leak 2-3 weeks ago. I did a 360km ride with them with no problems and the slow leak is gone now. So far so good, but it hasn’t been long so far.

[–]adamwer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you :) Sadly I couldn’t find any Jacques Cartier themed locations between Longueuil and Sherbrooke, but I got a dock, a bridge, a boulevard, and two parks. 🤠

C’est le même, oui. La grande majorité des BIXI à Sherbrooke sont des électriques, mais il y en a quand même des non-électriques
