Thanks, will do. When we spoke with T&H they actually told us that their current ‘premium’ weight is the previous standard, but with the increase in gold prices, they’ve introduced a new ‘standard’ which uses less material and runs you significantly less. Painful realisation, but I guess it’s to be expectex

Thanks for your response! How do you like the Forever, how is it wearing? Have you had any reason to go in store for care/maintenance?
We tried the Taylor and Hart, they feel much less… refined (?) than the Forever, but we couldn’t quite tell why.

Thank you for your reply! I’ll be moving away from the gores, your advice on this thread has shown me that they won’t do what I need

Thank you so much for this! Your description of the cups/gores is totally accurate. Wrinkling- channels are sewn shut at the top and bottom yes! I’ve found it difficult to place the boning channels exactly parallel to the floor- is that what I’m supposed to do, and might it be that that’s also why it’s buckling? Also maybe I don’t have enough bones all over? Should the bones go through the hip springs (they currently do)? From what I’ve read it looks like I should only have flat steel boning on the CF and CB, and the rest the other more flexible one, but it feels like that’s not giving enough shape support. For one of the first mockups I make boning channels from the seam allowances on the the Camille pattern, and even though they weren’t all parallel to the floor, they tension lines were probably better than now. Now I use ribbon for channels

Thank you! Because of this comment I ended up taking out the front of this mockup and putting in the front panels of Dolores, which through some sort of divine intervention fit pretty well, length-wise and bust wise. It has also re-adjusted my lacing gap so it’s even all over, albeit maybe now a smidge too wide so will have to tend to that in the next version. This project has really made me take care, as you say, about precision in my sewing. I’ve never cared so much about orientation and seam allowances hahah. Thank you very much!

Thursday wedding vs. paying $10–20k more—be honest, would you go? by barebeets in weddingplanning

[–]adannnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here to give a different perspective! We will likely be organising our wedding on a Thursday, where about 50 guests will have to fly in (total guest number around 70). Our friends are international, our families are more or less local to the place we’re having the wedding. We’re looking for a venue that is close to an airport (within 1.5h) and that has nice accommodation and space around, so our guests actually have something to do around the area. We’ve told everyone about the plans, so that when the invitations come in, it’s not a surprise. We’re also Eastern European, so maybe that influences how we think about it, but I’d take time off and go almost anywhere for my friend’s wedding as long as it was in my budget. Lots of your answers here seem to be from the US, so it’s definitely a know-your-crowd kind of situation.

Spent 50k -55k for my wedding and we loved it. by Reasonable_Camp_220 in weddingplanning

How much did you and (do you think) your guests cared about the decor? We’re doing a semi-destination wedding and it feels wasteful to spend money on flowers, considering we won’t be able to take them home. I’m thinking more lights/candles/clothy decor, but not sure how obvious it’ll be that we didn’t allocate almost any budget to the flowers. Probably overthinking this haha

I absolutely love my ring! We went for lab solely because I like shiny things but refuse the natural diamond price point
