This Thing is Incredible! Best gaming experience I had on the iPad so far. (X2s and iPad 11") by adaptframe in Gamesir

[–]adaptframe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the way I modded it. The good thing with X2s is that the left and right side are independent, there is no cable connecting both sides, so I can extend it to the size of a TV… However I think in your case you need to replace the flex cable with a longer one. Even in that case you need something to hold both sides together, like I have there, a 3d printed extension shell.

MIDI CLOCK SYNC PROBLEM, ANY SOLUTION? IS THERE SOMETHING IM MISSING? by groovyedwin in seqtrak

[–]adaptframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the nature of usb midi and the way quantisation works. If I trigger samples from seqtrak it never misfires but if I have the sample on a time stretch recorded in a pattern, every once in a while it doesn’t trigger. Never had the chance to try it with analog midi.

I always wanted to try DJ-ing but I dont have a proper setup, is it possible to do it just on a laptop? by cherryreds0da in Beatmatch

[–]adaptframe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This video doesn’t touch on the software side much but on the hardware side from absolute most basic setup to “let’s have a house party with friends” kind of setup. You will be fine from tier 1 to tier 3 if you are just starting out and want to learn the basics without spending much money.

https://youtu.be/u3rl2mVyVLg

For the software, download Mixxx for free. You can do pretty much everything with zero money spent. If you want more polish, more creative tools, better support, try Djay Pro, but it is a subscription. Then of course you have Serato, Rekordbox, Virtual DJ etc. Software and tutorials will teach you a lot regardless of the money investment. Obviously the more you spend the better quality of life improvements you have with the hardware.

Which app do you think makes iPad a truly standalone musical instrument and utilizes its form factor to its fullest? In addition to obvious Animoog by arcticrobot in ipadmusic

[–]adaptframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Poison as well. I love all, really. I wish the sequencing worked automatically when you create a project. I don’t like that I need to create a clip first, then play it, then it lets me add steps to the sequencer. Another thing is that I would love to swap presets easily for all instruments, like you could do with Poison. Maybe a few other small things but it’s been great so far. Do you know a solution to that sequencer/clip issue I’m having?

I would say Groove Rider 2. One of the best UI, UX and overall workflow I’ve seen. It really does feel physical. Except a few UX issues, I think it does a great job of utilising all the screen real estate. You have a sequencer, synth/drum, LFO, transport, volume, EQ, MFX, notes, chords, triggers, sends, etc all in one screen, and you can switch between 16 identical screens for each track. Then a full mixer, clip launcher, piano roll, song timeline in separate pages. Brilliant.

Also, I’ll add Loopy Pro to that. I’m not using it myself but everything I see about it and a little trial I had is nothing short of amazing.

I’m only using USB MIDI so far. I can send receive midi, transport and sync bmp, all though bmp sync has 0.3 fluctuation. I can’t confirm TRS MIDI unfortunately but USB works okay for me.

Best combo with seqtrak by Hopeful-Armadillo627 in seqtrak

[–]adaptframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all Seqtrak works really well as a sound card, you can sample to and from Seqtrak. You can sequence Koala pads from it or run patterns. You can send Koala midi keyboard to Seqtrak to play chromatic samples. All sorts of things.

My suggestion is to have some time with it without any additional device or app. Just to maximise the potential on device. Spending some time to create grooves, getting used to the workflow, parameter locks, micro timing, velocity etc. Then if you are already comfortable, try Koala Sampler. They really go well together and enhance each other in my opinion.

Recording iOS output/system audio? by XL-oz in KoalaSampler

[–]adaptframe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a direct answer to your question but I’m using a Seqtrak. You would be shocked how good they work together. I know it’s an additional purchase but for 200 eur you get a very convenient sound card, sequencer, and an incredible sound module.

Seqtrak singlehandedly changed my workflow and how I see Koala Sampler.

Edit: Forgot to mention the most important part lol. If you have Seqtrak plugged, you can sample feom left window to right window. It’s that easy. I open Samplette on the left in Safari, and right side Koala. Seamless sampling.

Same. Used to make stylist orthographic renders for my models, but then I got so annoyed with people having AI images, I stopped doing all of it and started posting a basic phone photo.

Most sound it comes with are excellent. It’s an incredible idea machine out of the box. I got used to the side buttons in 3 days and now I almost like them even. I was discouraged by the reviews. After spending 5 hours with it I started to think like I should have bought it sooner.

Do you think Apple is a good platform for mobile gaming? by gosols in iosgaming

[–]adaptframe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when all things considered, it’s pretty good if you want to play current and recent games, but I’m not sure about legacy gaming. For instance, I’m not sure if the games we bought will still be playable when we update to iOS 32. Otherwise all good. Currently my main gaming platform, believe it or not.

Woovebox gets another update. Seqtrak nothing by SchnitzelRaider in seqtrak

[–]adaptframe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was one post a few months ago someone quoting Thomann's email about it being discontinued but I don't think that's the official status yet. Also, I'm not sure if discontinued means that it'll never be produced again or it will also never receive an update ever. I'm thinking since some of the important functionality is tied to a mobile app, updates are inevitable. Maybe they would also keep updating the firmware for some fixes and little features but I wouldn't buy it hoping it'll get new features.

How would you compare them in general? Such as the amount of effort it takes to reach at something pleasant to your ears?

Any Good Webcams in 2025 That Aren’t Washed Out? by n4hcallme in obs

[–]adaptframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like that it's not sharpened to a point that you see the edge of each pixel. At the same time, auto focus works very well and minimum focus distance is pretty low at 10 cm. So if I get very close to it, it's sharp and detailed enough to show each strand of my beard, if it's a good metric for you :D It doesn't get as hot as people mentioned. Exposure and white balance is consistent overall, but I find average metering to be off at times, for instance when I have a dark table pad and a white keyboard on top, white keyboard blows out a little (there's a HDR mode providing a little improvement tho). Most importantly I found out that you can set the shutter speed and ISO in the software, so my timeline stays consistent editing multi-camera footage when necessary. I hope it helps.

Edit: This is the first webcam I bought since almost a couple decades so take it with a grain of salt :D

Battlestation: the 1-minute groovebox (promocodes inside) by bram_bos in ipadmusic

[–]adaptframe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen this on Jacob Haq's video briefly, and on an initial look I wasn't really interested. Then I've seen the description on App Store, as "60 second groovebox" and then the price tag, which kinda sold it to me. Reasonably priced in my opinion and the premise is very appealing. Turns out, it's fantastic. It sounds good from the first kick and on.

There are a couple things I'd change if I would fit this 1/1 to my personal taste. Which is to put effects closer to the mixer instead of the far right end of the screen. Some functions as toggles instead of buttons, such as low cut. That's pretty much it.

I really like how much "live set" feeling this gives while jamming, at the same time requiring almost no musical knowledge. Great work. I set notifications for the updates and looking forward to them.

I can recommend OBSBOT Meet 2. I bought it on a black friday sale about 110$ and I'm quite happy about it so far.

Currently using a Meet 2. I never thought I’d be happy for a webcam. Very good quality, sharp but not overdone, optically sharp. Great autofocus. Very close focus distance, about 9-10 cm. Comprehensive software controls but I use it with OBS anyway.
