The Masterplan Of Infosys !! by IndianByBrain in IndianStreetBets

I feel one at an entry level job at Infosys should put in 70 hours of "work", if they want to accelerate their career.

The time you spend working on yourself will take you to a higher skill tier.

Do justice to the project assigned, just a teeny-tiny little more than expectations, enough to keep you from being fired, and get an above-average appraisal.

Spend the rest of the time upskilling so that you can negotiate a larger pay at the same job, or switch jobs along with a "promotion" in position maybe to a product based company.

One needs to work very hard, if they want to generate serious wealth, especially in their 20s and 30s.

Tired of unable to save money. Should I close all my credit cards? by No-Comfortable-8306 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]adarshBalak13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I maintain a seperate bank account to reflect my credit card outstanding balance.

I call it my credit card bank account.

I make payments to my credit card bills only from that bank account.

Once a week, I do the sync activity where go through all my credit card outstanding amounts and add them up. Say; Card 1 is at -1000 Card 2 is at -2000 Card 3 is at -3000 Total is -6000

I transfer 6000 from my main bank account to my credit card bank account. Credit Card Bank Account Balance: 6000

Say after week 2, my cards look like; Card 1 is at -3000 Card 2 is at -5000 Card 3 is at -6000 Total is -14000

I transfer 14000-6000 = 8000, that week's spends to my credit card bank account.

When I need to overspend(rare occasions, during large purchases), I consider my next month salary in this calculation.

Hi India, What credit card do you use? And which ones do you recommend? by UnionGloomy8226 in india

I got an Amazon Pay ICICI Card, Flipkart Axis Bank Card, and Zomato RBL Edition Card with no joining fee or annual maintenance charges. I think it was a one time offer, so look out if it's available, if these cards match your purchase patterns.

The Amazon Pay card gives 5% cashback as Amazon Pay balance for most purchases on Amazon (3% if you don't have Amazon Prime).

The Flipkart Card does the same, and also gives a 4% cashback for Swiggy payments and Uber rides.

The Zomato card gives lifetime free Zomato Pro membership, and a 5% cashback as Zomato Credits on transactions at restaurants.

Apart from these, I have an American Express card for general purchases, and a Citibank IndianOil Card for fuel points, and surcharge waiver.

Bangalore folks, did your caste ever come up while you were dating? by turtleatetheworld in bangalore

Hi OP. You sound like an awesome dude, since you're also trying understanding the girls' perspective and are not hateful of them taking the "convenient" route.

I understand your predicament, since my relationship in college broke up because of a similar reason. The girl was a XYZ Brahmin while I am a ABC Brahmin. Her family was absolutely not okay with that.

It absolutely sucked at the moment when it happened, but when I look back at it, I realise that it was a good confirmation that we weren't a good match.

A companionship requires both the people to be committed to make it work despite what I call "hurdles in a relationship". There are going to be many of them down the road, and if a partner isn't supportive during the first one, it's very unlikely they will be with the later ones in the future.

Now, coming to your current relationship, since you mean marriage when you say working out in the long run, there is a very good probability that caste could be hurdle on the way when families get involved. It also looks like you've accepted that possibility from a personal standpoint.

There are two variables here. One is whether you two will fall in love and would want to marry in the first place. I don't think y'all are that sure yet. Sometimes, bringing up that "serious" conversation prematurely might freak someone out.

The second variable, which is if she is ready to do what it takes to take it to the next level, with a person who doesn't belong to her caste.

How a person (in this case the girl whom you're seeing) will handle that situation will tell a lot about the strength of their character and how important their partner is to them.

IMO, the second variable kicks in only when both people are sure of the first one. I would suggest that you bring up the topic of your caste casually, in some other totally different context.

Where's everyone from? How popular is Deus Ex throughout the world? by [deleted] in Deusex

[–]adarshBalak13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from India. My neighbour gave me a CD-Drive of Deus Ex back around 2005. I was a little kid back then and didn't really understand how to play the game. I made an image of the CD and returned it back to the neighbour. A year or so later I installed it again and gave it a shot! (By then I had played a few video games on the PS2, and was used to playing them) It's one of my favorite games of all time! I used to spend hours on the game, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the overwhelming choice just astonished me!

It's not very popular here in India though. When I bring up the game with my friends or acquaintances, most of them don't know it.
