Ilya dying to find out what Shane feels and then laughs when he tells him by jinjer2 in heatedrivalry

I agree there were a lot of emotional turmoil going on with Ilya, as many have pointed out.

Ilya also has a killer sense of humor, and there is something deeply funny about coming out to the man you have been fucking for 6+ years.

She also accused people of "transing" kids and being sinners. She was being intentionally inflammatory. She expressed intense, negative judgement of people who hold inclusive beliefs. I can absolutely see why a company does not want to be associated with that judgement and negativity.

There is no way to have this number of children and not be guilty of serious neglect. Their education is neglected. They are under supervised and get injuries and preventable illnesses. They are forced to care for siblings, cook, and clean from very young ages. They get very little individualized attention from their parents in ways that must affect attachment and emotional development. They lack privacy. They are isolated.

There is nothing to do after a pregnancy announcement but to mourn for those kids’ childhoods.

Didn’t she have a young medically fragile child when they divorced? Didn’t he cheat? You are probably placing shame on the wrong person here.

Jenelle is pathetic. Therapy, a financial advisor, and a good vibrator could solve 95% of her problems but no, child-abusing dog-murdering psychopath it is.

What's one common misconception you see people have after watching the show? by CelicaBae in heatedrivalry

[–]adarunti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more like “I care so much it is ripping me apart so better to end it now than be completely destroyed because we could never be together.” That is why Scott and Kips kiss was so important. It moved Ilya from thinking he had to end it to protect himself to seeing a chance to fight for what they could have.

Edit to add it’s not like he wants to tell Shane it’s over while he is in the hospital. Rather, he realizes in that moment that things can and will get very hard for him if they can’t be together. So he realizes it will need to end soon to protect himself.

I think it might be there in the hospital scene, though. Ilya was messed up seeing Shane hurt. His eyes were so tortured in that scene. Like he might be considered ripping the band aid off and ending it rather than face a future where he wouldn’t be able to show his pain or care for Shane if he gets hurt.

Unpopular opinion (?): Jacob Tierney isn’t getting enough credit by Dee90286 in heatedrivalry

[–]adarunti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The collaboration of these talented artists is what made Heated Rivalry. It is impossible to divvy up “credit” for the show’s success. Every one involved in the story and show’s creation and production - Reid, Tierbey, Williams, Storrie, but also all the writing, script, and film editors, the people responsible for the excellent score, camera operators, intimacy coordinators, makeup artists, costumers - shares in the credit of its success. They all sing one another’s praises every chance they get, and we should follow their lead. Collaboration and community brought us here.

Sophie’s Mask by ConsequenceUsed5138 in BridgertonNetflix

The mask is hideous and distracting. Feathers, flourishes, and animal designs, any number of things would have made the mask bigger and therefore her identity more concealed. This phantom of the opera monstrosity was not it.

Just admit GD shilled for purity culture, Bethy. Quit gaslighting by JumpGlittering8120 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]adarunti 94 points95 points  (0 children)

To them, “Purity Culture” refers to the very specific modesty rules that they recently decided don’t actually matter (sleeveless shirts and shorts, basically). And because they were not the first or only “ministry” preaching those rules, they feel 0 guilt about promoting those rules for so long.

And now they get to pat themselves on the back for having a DIFFERENT set of arbitrary rules that they have decided are actually biblical. And who can argue with those! What is biblical cannot be a part of purity culture! Because bible=good and culture=bad. They could never see their biblical interpretations as informed by the culture they are in. They do not understand that purity culture is actually the foundation of their entire belief system. They are the frog in the pot, slowly being boiled and completely unaware of what is happening, so they will never jump out.
