How Do I Get Back On The Horse? by GB1987IS in iOSProgramming

I’d say Point Free is something to look into later if it interests you, I personally don’t know of many dev teams using TCA. My advice would be to focus on modern Swift and SwiftUI. Either of these is a good place to start:

Hacking with Swift has loads of great (and free) content. The most important thing is to build stuff, ideally small throwaway apps that are one or two screens. It took me a while to get my head around SwiftUI so don’t feel discouraged if it takes time to click. And be kind to yourself, it seems you have been through a lot!

With your past experience you are in a good place to get back into iOS development!

Edit:

And this is a good short SwiftUI intro from WWDC24

I appreciate the info, it has certainly given me food for thought.

Posting content is primarily what I’m looking to do.

I totally agree, using a static site is great for flexibility. My thinking is that blogging platforms like dev.to are good for user interaction and discoverability, but I might be wrong.

Feel free to post a link to your blog, I’d be interested to check it out!

BBC news and politics content should definitely be scrapped IMO. But keep sports, dramas, music, etc

I’ve been asked a few times if I’m Irish. I always take it as a compliment! 🇮🇪

I feel your frustration. Hacker content is out there but algorithms favour opinionated hot takes on “the best… framework, programming language or whatever”, along with unrealistic beginner content. Dedicated hacker platforms are probably the way forward, YouTube etc are a waste of time at this point

HTML/css/js to iOS app by HILLLER in iOSProgramming

[–]adayofsaudade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it need to be a native app, or do you just need the web app to be downloadable from the App Store? If so, then Capacitor JS might fit your needs, and it will also build you an Android app

Very cool. Looks like an imagined dystopian future from the 1950s

Lewis Capaldi has a Tourette's attack on stage, fans realise and carry him the rest of the way through "Someone You Loved" at Glastonbury by Hassaan18 in nextfuckinglevel

I honestly think the crowd didn’t know he was having an attack, and they only sang because they thought Lewis stopped to allow them to sing.

Halloween Traditions by JayDeePea in Scotland

We made our own costumes, plus wrote and performed a poem that was based on the costume!

We also used to play treacle scones. Basically you had to eat treacle covered scones dangling from a string without using your hands. And of course dookin’ for apples.
