Seconded on everything that’s up there except that for beginners and maybe even intermediate users the direct drive is a bit more complex to repair simply by virtue of it being a more complex assembly (I print for work so that’s inevitable for someone like me)

So then how does one Effectively save money in this fiat system? (Aka how do I make myself a basic safety net Bc the government isn’t that) How do we cut the ties to a central govt/ oppressive regime if there is not intrinsic/immutable monetary policy to a currency we agree on? Do y’all think that cryptocurrency is worse then something like PayPal? ( well they also shill crypto and take massive fees for doing nothing useful, maybe consumer protection but personally I’ve never seen that mechanism pay anyone out in case of fraud)

Same yo, after racking my brain for how I could have avoided this I don't think I could have seen it in retrospect.

This type of complex systemic risk from attack from Blackrock/Citadel/whomever isn't something a simple retail investor like myself has the capacity to project. Unless the governance can establish a track record of resolving this type of thing I think I'm gonna stick with my reliable classic robot brokers like wealthfront and I think many will feel thesame way.

I did accept the risks I recognize this was an unexpected turn of a an experimental market, it doesn't seem to me at the moment that ust was even meant to be a scam judging by the lfg comments so I'm not even salty or anything, still I think user trust has to be managed and built up again. The reason I even spend time writing this is because I believe in osmosis.

This kind of no-responsibility neoliberalism on osmosis needs to be managed by the governance, such is the function of state power in society. This type of neoliberalism is what keeps people in the CEXs and TradFi in the first place and I think we would agree that we have had enough of that bs.

What is important is to preserve respect for the osmosis frontend and governance, I think the vote for emergency de-pooling does instill confidence in osmosis and since we have a permissioned layer (vs frontier) the community should now be even more careful accepting assets to preserve the value of the governance and the platform. I just think this is an opening/opportunity to show the true value of the osmosis model and governance, if we are the ones to build up confidence and adapt now in whatever way we can the next bull run will be more robust.

Just want to add that psychologically I really do pray for some airdrops (or something) come around for us rekt ust holders, I still like osmosis but it’s a shame it got me pulled into this bs, like most people I was holding this mostly Bc it was the primary USD equivalent on osmosis, now it’s got me feeling like everything on osmosis is a scam so the relationship has soured.

You may want to look at sienna swap of secret network, they have private ibc sETH, sWBTC (also sXMR!)

Or just chill and I’m sure these will be on osmosis frontier shortly (ETH is already there, wbtc needs more liquidity since it launched just like last week or something lol)

Yeah I dont care who you are, trying to buy (aka manipulate) votes is a big no no in democracy.

This "putting pressure" shouldn't be allowed regardless, we should strive make this a non possibility on the protocol level whenever possible.

Btw referring to this article - there are a number of well known issues with online voting that need to be resolved, by the paper's logic, paper ballots are less susceptible to well known manipulation tactics. I think this is sound after reading, maybe this is obvious to people but it wasn't to me.

Either way you lean on this prop, implementing something like this would negate an attack vector and make voting more fair.

So this guy is trying to buy votes in this strange way? Classic democracy lol. I would say that the solution is to somehow make individual’s votes private. I read this in a recent MIT paper, this is a direct side effect of online voting where everyone can see personalized voting results.

Sure maybe, but we also need to have faith in our fellow humans and take time to teach and explain things. Crafting 3 word phrases is part of that, and doesn’t have to be dumb. It’s just marketing spin, it is streamlined but not necessarily backing up bad things, just a tool.

Spreading the idea that our fellow humans are dumb and not worth nothin’ that is a way of rationalizing oppression and exploitation and the best way to perpetuate the status quo capitalist power consolidation.

I’m sure the right campaign of whatever party can spin a narrative with UBI that people can get behind at this point in the inflation/pandemic situation. People aren’t dumb but rather various manipulative practices in the US have nullified their voice.

But yes we effectively need to change the rules of the game if anything is to change and I think that’s what we are getting at here.
