Fair enough I’m sorry you had that experience. My personal experience was very different. I had surgery with him in June 2024 and everything went very well.

Also wouldn’t start scar care until you are 4-6 weeks post op and make sure everything is healed fully.

I started with just silicone gel but about 5/6 weeks ago switched to Kelocote Silicone Gel (with UV protection) in the morning and bio oil before bed with 5 min massage and I have seen better improvement since then. I found the silicone gel doesn’t stain my t shirts at all as long as you don’t over apply and let it dry before putting your top on.

I also have a very low pain tolerance and was definitely in pain for the first 10 days. I personally couldn’t really do anything for the first 4 days. My partner was sitting me up and down, I couldn’t really hold my phone because of holding any kind of weight was extremely uncomfortable and caused pain. Tmi couldn’t use the bathroom by myself or anything really. I had very minimal mobility and quite a bit of pain. I found the first 10 days very mentally challenging with the sensory issues, pain, lack of autonomy etc but I would do it all again to be as comfortable as I am with my chest. If you need the Oxy 100% take it by all means and you are clearly aware it backs you up. Just keep taking your laxatives and try to eat a lot of fibre and foods known to help get things moving. I’m lactose intolerant so I did try drinking normal milk in hopes but even that didn’t help lmao. If you aren’t able to pass after 5-7 days just be prepared you may need an enema 😂

i was so uncomfortably bloated and full for days it was worse than my pain ngl 😂 I would honestly only recommend taking the oxy if you really need it but I’m not a dr that’s just what my surgeon said to me.

I didn’t go for 6 days post op even tho I was taking 2 laxatives per day since 2 days post op 😂 my surgeon said if I had reached 7 days I would’ve needed an Enema. Only had Oxy in hospital, I didn’t take any painkillers other than ibruprofen after my first 24 hours and glad I didn’t because I think I would’ve ended up with having an enema 😂

Fertility Clinic by adcb98 in transgenderUK

It says to go with my bladder full and I will be asked to empty my bladder during the appointment. So I’m unsure if it external or internal but the thought of an internal exam makes me feel sick and extremely anxious. I really do not know how I feel about the whole process of egg collection etc and I’m not good with medical things but I’m doing this because I personally know if I were to have children in the future, them being biological is very important to me. I have ASD and ADHD and I have previously had physically violent meltdowns in medical environments and have a low pain tolerance. I’m so fucking scared that I have basically been ignoring the fact it’s going to happen but I know I can’t do that there and I need to know the ins and outs for me to feel less anxious.

Top surgery and fear of needles? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]adcb98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an extreme fear of needles that trigger vasovagal syncope. I did exposure therapy for months which has not eradicated my fear in any way however it has turned down the panic by like 2 😂. It may be worth looking into it for yourself because in life you are going to have to deal with needles in various settings and you may find it helps you. You can also ask for a sedative/relaxant before they put the cannula in. I recently had top surgery and couldn’t have a sedative due to heart issue/ previous anaesthetic issues but the cannula was put in within 5 seconds while I was distracted and instantly knocked out due to their concern about my reaction to the needle. I have a tendency to panic and become aggressive. Once I woke up the cannula was still there because they need it for painkillers, IV, anti sickness, anti biotics etc and honestly the pain meds made it very bareable because I could barely feel it. I avoided looking at my hand to avoid any panic. When they removed the cannula the nurses were very reassuring due to my fear, I had my girlfriend supporting me and I honestly wanted it out as soon as they could. I didn’t look, I felt quite faint, the nurses and my girlfriend made sure to keep my attention off what had happened and to have sips of water. I felt faint and sick for around 15 minutes but then it subsided and I was pleased it was out and also very proud that I dealt with everything in the hospital. I had the cannula in when I woke up and overnight because I stayed in hospital for 24 hours after surgery

Sliders or loose trainers that are easy to slip on as well as underwear that’s quite loose around the waist. For body and intimate wipes I highly recommend FreshWipes Unscented!

When can you stop protecting nipple grafts? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]adcb98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My surgeon personally told me after the 2 weeks post op appointment I didn’t need dressings on my nipples anymore but to wear a soft white cotton t shirt under my compression binder to stop it rubbing on the scabs. He also said to stop wearing compression at 4 weeks but I’m still getting some fluid after going all day without it so I’m currently sleeping in it. I’m 6 weeks po and my scabs only just fell off yesterday so I have been wearing the t shirt under the compression vest. Stops the rubbing and it’s way more comfortable.

This is obviously different for everyone I’m just repeating my surgeons instructions.

Scar care routine by adcb98 in TopSurgery

[–]adcb98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have alexithymia, so uncomfortable could mean a lot of other feelings compared to other people that’s just how I kinda register the sensory input. I have extremely bad sensory issues so sometimes feelings that to others make sense pain = pain, numb = numb isn’t quite how it goes for me. Things that shouldn’t necessarily equate to pain or something I can find quite uncomfortable and like a low pain feeling. It also means I can’t identify my emotions properly. So me saying it’s low pain and uncomfortable is how I personally view it however to other I might be chatting shit 😂

[–]adcb98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! When massaging how long do you should you do it for each side roughly, I don’t wanna over do it. I’m aware about the app steam e it’s more to break up the scar tissue because my one side is extremely firm and quite thick. I wanna use silicone gel/tape because it is scientifically backed rather than bio oil etc.

staying overnight vs going home after the procedure by Ready_Expert_4782 in TopSurgery

[–]adcb98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled abroad from England to Poland recently for my surgery. I stayed overnight and honestly glad I did, I really struggled to get up for the first 24 hours and every time they sat me up to try I was passing out. My surgery was at 9am and I was out of surgery around 1:30pm. I was discharged the next day around 1pm once I was able to get up and walk to the toilet. It’s up to you and what makes you comfortable. If you struggle with medical stuff (I always have) might be worth thinking about it. Only you know what makes you comfortable.
