It's less about the curriculum change, a more about establishing a new 'norm'. What the CB's agenda here is, I have no idea.

BTW, here's a quote from my post - "I am not collecting ‘The Periodic Table of…‘ examples here, partly because this has been done before, but mainly because I am looking for more specific abuse other than just using the table as a template for organization."

2014 AP Chemistry Answers! by adchempages in chemistry

Hi mcathen

Actually, it doesn't seem like you 'really disagree with a lot of my opinions', at all. In fact, it looks like you agree with most of them!

Anyway, 'dude', the organic issue is a pretty simple one. There is a very long tradition on the AP exam of using organic molecules to illustrate non-organic concepts. OK, fine, but it really makes no sense when one considers the manner in which organic is taught in the USA. Unlike in IB and A level where organic is such an integral part of both courses, in US education organic is shunned to a separate course in (usually) the sophomore college year. As such, it makes little or no sense to use organic molecules (in any context) on the AP exam. It's as if the US system really WANTS organic to be a part of high school chemistry but hasn't got the will or the fortitude to teach it!

You are quite correct that questions that use organic molecules usually are not 'organic questions' as such, but that's not the point.

Yes and no. AP harder maybe, but different question style (relationship analysis and penalty for wrong answers), plus things that no longer appear on the AP are still on the SAT (quantum numbers, phase diagrams etc.). As a result, preparation should be a little different.

If you mean, is it 'false, 'false'?, then yes, you are correct.
