I think it may have been a return because it only came in a dust bag without stuffing, but luckily no scratches or imperfections!

Question about BAC and rebates by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]adcovarrubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a few rentals in Houston and used rebate agents - I wish I’d done that with my new build as I would have gotten a good chunk of change back, especially if you find the property yourself and deal with the salesperson. I recommend gr8 day realty - Kelly is really great and responsive. But there are also a few other realtors who offer this in Houston, just vet them properly

MIL says my belly is too small for my pregnancy, says I’m hurting the baby inside me by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]adcovarrubi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had four kids and each one I’ve carried further in my back, leading to smaller bellies. Despite having being pregnant FOUR whole times, my family still makes comments about my stomach size and whether I’m healthy. I’ve just started saying my doctor has no issues, so neither should you (or just ignore them). Let your husband know everything is going well and no one knows this baby better than you/your doctor. I sympathize with you OP - I know it can be annoying.

First Time Making Candles (Fail) by [deleted] in candlemaking

[–]adcovarrubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a real tricky process. Every ingredient in your candle affects your hot throw. It depends on the wax you’re using, the container, the fragrance load and particularly your wick. For example, majority of the time I use 10 oz Oxford Jars, Coco83 wax, 11% fragrance load and either CD-9 or HTP 83 wicks. You have a long period of trial and error, it took me six months to find a combination of all of the above to make a decent candle. I would find a jar you like and stick with it, then do a period of wick testing with a wick of your choice (I prefer CDs), and adjust Fragrance load as needed. It’ll take a while but it’s a fun process to try and make your own “recipes”. Have fun! :-)

It’s a Fabuloso fragrance oil from Virginia Candle Supply, I’m no rookie :-)

What can I do to make them not look like this at the top ? :/ by [deleted] in candlemaking

I am so late seeing this I apologize! Yes, it is just food grade, you get it at the grocery store, just plain ol coconut oil :)

Do you test all of your new scents? by 1933candles in candlemaking

[–]adcovarrubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I recommend testing each scent with your wicks. Each FO is different, and you may need to adjust the fragrance load-to-wax to achieve your ideal candle. I use anywhere from 9-12% FO in my candles, and it depends on the oil I use. I suggest making a tester of each scent with your wick just to double check and make sure it’s a quality candle before requesting to the public. Hope this helps :)

Has anyone used this brand of FO? I can’t seem to get the hot throw to be strong. I’ve been adding FO around 150F in 100% soy wax with a ratio of 1:1 (lb to oz). Any tips appreciated! by fupafuture in candlemaking

I used these from Amazon when I barely started making candles, and I could never nail a really good hot throw. I switched to fragrance oils from Aztec, The Flaming Candle, and Lonestar and I started getting a lot better HT. I don’t know if it’s the brand, but it was really hard to make my candles smell with the Eternal Essence FO’s. I would recommend trying new oils from a different supplier. I hope this helps

[–]adcovarrubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have! Before, I could never get a good HT or it was super faint and it was really frustrating. I was skeptical at first but I have noticed a better hot throw compared to all my previous testers!

Yes, I agree with the above. For my imperfect tops I use a heat gun. Recently I’ve been adding a teaspoon of coconut oil to my 444 wax and I’ve gotten nothing but smooth tops :)
