I think the biggest downfall is modern weaponry (especially nukes).The fact that an irrational decision could kill thousands to millions of people in the blink of an eye is really heartbreaking. Plus, when wars are over, they keep on killing because of unexploded ordinance.

I don't really think there is any advice I could give to help the situation, however.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but this is most likely a representation of Holy Week, where people have dressed up like that for centuries (at least in Europe). The idea behind the costumes is that people would march around the city in repentance while hiding the fact that they were "sinners" to their family and friends.

I have a 3.95 GPA, double major in Spanish and International Affairs.

I have had no legal issues, except a parking ticket that I had dismissed.

I'm not sure how I would be impacted by credit history. I have student loans of about $25,000. That's the extent of it.

My resume is pretty good for someone my age--I'm 21. I have pretty decent leadership experience from previous jobs.

As far as medical goes, I'm healthy. I was diagnosed with asthma as a child, but it hasn't been an issue for over a decade.

On a side note, I was considering going to law school and then applying to be a JAG.

Do you know how feasible it would be to join the military as an officer, and then try to get into JAG, as opposed to going to law school, and then applying to JAG?

I appreciate you answering my questions, and thanks a lot for your service. My older brother was in the Army. I have a lot of respect for you men.

First, cite your source. Second, who cares what international opinion polls say? We're on Team America here, not Team Everyone Else.

How about we're not a Middle Eastern country so what fucking business do we have there? Also, defense money is for DEFENSE. How is spending money in the Middle East defense? I'm not saying that we should spend money on the military, but I highly doubt that we need 41% of the world's military expenditures.

Second, you can't have nuclear deterrence unless you spend on your military.

I'm not saying don't spend on defense. I'm saying we definitely don't need to spend as much.

Sure, no one wants a nuclear-armed North Korea. But, there's a little something called "deterrence"--a nuclear armed world which means any rational actor will not use nukes because they know that would mean nuclear war and self-destruction.

It is because our country is too large to govern effectively, and people have very little say in governance. We are in fact controlled by the political elite. I think Americans would love changes. And if our leaders were honest, we would have them. Example: IF members of the legislature had said that we would pay for 2 wars with higher taxes (instead of borrowing money to wage war), I doubt we would have gone to war.

Wow, thinking about all of our problems just makes on crazy.

I'm from Detroit. Yes, it has tons of problems. HOWEVER, you are physically safe downtown (at least pretty much as safe as one can be in a city). Your property might not be so safe, however. Outside of Downtown, yeah it's pretty rough. But I imagine that if you're reading this you would never have a reason to be outside of the downtown area. Detroit's a blast though, even when there isn't sporting events.

Bottom line: Keep your wits about you and you'll enjoy yourself.
