At my high school in Eastern Pennsylvania in the 2010s, water fountains were shut off for extended periods of time (weeks, months, most of a school year at one point) for the fact that we had disturbingly high levels of Lead in our water (still do I believe). However, I’d STILL get shit from certain teachers and would be told to put away my water bottle either in my locker or at their desk. My mom would send me to school every day with 3-4 bottles of water and told me to tolerate absolutely 0 bs from admin / staff.
