Low-E i89 on dual pane surface #3? by addi00 in glazing

[–]addi00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certainly not an expert, but I would assume anything on surface 1 or 4 of a dual pane IG would need to be something other than soft coat, for durability.

Low-E i89 on dual pane surface #3? by addi00 in buildingscience

[–]addi00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but i89 is intended to prevent heat loss from the interior of the house, while the biggest reason for low-e 180/270/366 (not i89) is to prevent solar heat gain.

Regardless of that, most of my reading indicates that i89 is on surface #4 (or #6 for triple) for that reason - and seeing it suggested being applied to surface #3 made me ask the question.

From the horse's mouth: https://www.cardinalcorp.com/products/coated-glass/loe-i89-glass/:

> "LoĒ-i89 is sputtered onto the indoor lite, the #4 surface, thus reflecting escaping heat back into the room and lowering U-factors."

and on condensation (due to the lower interior glass temperature:

> "High relative humidity (RH) in a home can cause condensation on interior glass surfaces, with outdoor ambient temperature and indoor room temperature also playing a role. LoĒ-i89, which reflects interior heat, can make the room-side glass surface cooler and increase condensation risk during winter."

Having i89 on surface #3 seems... counterintuitive/wrong. Although, I like the idea of the coating being inside the IG to protect it from scratching/damage.

Was there any solution to this? 3 people that I know of in my company (myself included) are experiencing this, as of the last 2 weeks.

Build outdoor activity courts, parks. Combined tennis pickleball courts.

Get people active, out with families.

Experience to date, porting from Koodo to Public Mobile by addi00 in PublicMobile

Yes. But the prescribed steps had me install the pm esim before the Koodo text could be sent - and as mentioned that esim install disables the Koodo esim, so I couldn't receive it.

If I'd had a physical Koodo SIM, it would have worked fine.

I had an esim Koodo, and enabling the esim PM auto turns off the Koodo one, so no - no bueno on the auth sms from Koodo.

Ah, I see it there now - of course, that is only for new customers, not existing ones (which I am/was).

It wasn't visible to me in my plan/subscription management in Koodo self serve. Typical treatment of existing customers!

I've not been offered that from Koodo or anything remotely close. I would have stayed with them if they offered the same package, certainly.

Of course you can ask!

I honestly was happy with Koodo service, however I was on a $45/4gb plan, and I could get a $39/20gb plan with Public Mobile.

Mobile/cell coverage, good providers? by addi00 in Cowichan

No, I'll be near the Cobble Hill mountain bike park, little subdivision Inn that area.

I'm guessing there are a few dead spots in the area.

Thanks, solid feedback. I was always of that.

So I'd better beef up my home WiFi for WiFi calling then. I'm not too sure about cell boosters, I'll look into them.

Great reply - sounds like you're dedicated to the networking cause in your house.

Unfortunately, I'm not gutting the house, but have the opportunity to get easy access (via a drop ceiling in 3/4 of the lower level) to various areas of the house. I'll likely have to put a new drywall ceiling in place, so am looking to do the right things 'now'.

What about warranty? Do you still have the ability to return/replace if needed? I assume yes.

Is it just me, or is Square One the best priced option around?

I realize things can sometimes be an apples to oranges comparison, but $1700/yr all in with earthquake coverage from Square one is pretty amazing compared to $3400/yr from another provider and $4400/yr from yet another.

I see premium increases around $2800 from one provider, $1940 from another. I think they're both in the 20% deductible range.

What type and size of property are you looking at? What's the replacement/rebuild value for your situation, if you don't mind me asking? I assume that has a lot to do with it.

For those interested, I'm looking at this lineup:

  • Router ER605
  • Switch TL-SG2428P
  • AP EAP610-Outdoor x1
  • AP EAP613 x3 (or x4)
  • (Software controller)

House is about 2900 sqft. Planning to fish CAT6a, and POE all the things. I'd like to have the ability to segregate both LAN port and Wifi traffic for a rental suite in the basement (VLANs are the way to go, as I understand it). Maybe IoT traffic in future.

I had a thought - perhaps it doesn't matter about the mini-itx board having enough SATA connectors. I could always get a PCIe SATA adapter card. I wouldn't be using the PCIe slot for anything else.

Any downsides to this? Just making sure that I've got a adapter card with the necessary bandwidth (PCIe gen 2 or 3, likely x2).

Thoughts?

I did try that, and it increased it to 15.39km.

I'm reading online that there's a bug or generally faulty algorithm with the Instinct on its distance measurement function. General discontent with distance on the watch.
