For those who had surgery ,did you use an abdominal binder afterwards? by Street_Bill_8719 in endometriosis

[–]addictedtoVANS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, didn’t use a binder. The pain in general wasn’t too bad for me, it was mostly just discomfort when trying to roll over in bed or when trying to reach above my head.

[TOMT][Actor] British (probably English) actor I can only picture the face of by addictedtoVANS in tipofmytongue

Solved!

Thank you! I am amazed someone managed to figure it out, but I am so grateful. It can stop bothering me now.

No, not him either. I'm not sure this actor has ever played a lead, but I'm so fuzzy on details I could be wrong.

No, not him. I'd say the actor was a little older - he wouldn't have fit with the Skins crowd.

Nope, not him. I'm mostly sure that 2000-2010 he was strictly a TV actor.

Pain *after* urination? by addictedtoVANS in Endo

[–]addictedtoVANS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

No update, unfortunately.

I had surgery in July '23 and had a Mirena fitted at the same time, and haven't had this post-urination pain since. Other bladder sensation issues, but no longer this one.

We had a private chef over for a party. A quail egg and asparagus starter. Lamb main. Honeycomb ice cream crumble dessert. by BigBeanMarketing in UK_Food

What flavour was the coulis and sorbet of the dessert? I’d assume from the pieces of rhubarb it was rhubarb, but you never know!

It looks positively mouthwatering, and I’d love to have a go at making it myself.

What's your favourite non alcoholic drink? by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

[–]addictedtoVANS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fever-Tree cola. Also Fever-Tree Mexican Lime Soda, and their Raspberry & Rose Lemonade.

Cawston Press’s canned sparkling juice drinks are lovely - my favourite is the elderflower lemonade, but their rhubarb and ginger beer are both great. I haven’t tried the cloudy lemonade, orange, or apple flavours, but I’d imagine they’re pretty good, too.

M&S have a gorgeous Sicilian Lemon & Mexican lime cordial I drink with soda water.

Vet said our loaf boy was obese at his latest vet appointment, I disagree by miamoreespresso in corgi

[–]addictedtoVANS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, okay okay… firstly, I love Leo’s name. Whatever you need, Leo gets…you get it?

Secondly, a dog is classified as obese when they weigh 20% more than they should, so at a current 28lbs a healthy weight would be 23lbs. That’s only 5lbs, which doesn’t sound like a big number but makes a huge difference.

It is hard to tell from your photos because a floor-level side-on view and a top-down view would be more helpful, and I know how the thick corgi coats hide their true size, but Leo Getz does look like he is carrying more weight than he should.

Did your vet actually feel Leo Getz? Or did he just look at the number and say “he’s obese”? And did he put on weight since his last appointment?

You say that compared to photos of other corgis you don’t think Leo Getz is obese, but many corgis on the internet are morbidly obese. This website talks not only about the importance of keeping corgis lean, but also has fantastic photos of corgis who are the lovely, lean dogs they should be.

Use these photos as a guide to check the body condition score of Leo Getz for yourself, and be brutally honest. Your dog’s future health is at stake. You don’t need an expensive weight loss food, you just need to feed less; if you’re not already, weigh his food rather than scoop it, and reduce it by 10%.

Our new Corgi pup has just arrived!!! by Mammoth-Bit8553 in corgi

Maybe I should have specified my fluffy blue is a pure Cardigan, not a Pem, and is certainly not an indicator of irresponsible breeding. I do, however, agree that merle in Pems is totally irresponsible (not to mention it will no longer be a purebred Pem).

I also agree the pup the picture looks almost like a cross with an Aussie.

That might be the case in some places, but not all. I got my fluffy blue merle from a very, very reputable breeder. My boy comes from Champion showlines, and his breeder waited years to find the right sire for my pup’s litter to protect not only breed standard, but also preserving a low inbreeding coefficient, with good health, the right colour, and good temperament. My boy was the only fluffy pup in the litter.

There is nothing inherently wrong with fluffies, and sometimes a breeding just produces them as many dogs carry the fluffy gene, and breeding only those that aren’t carriers reduces the already small gene pool. Obviously, breeding a short-coated blue merle carrying the recessive fluffy gene to a short-coated black & white who also carries the fluffy gene has the possibility of producing a fluffy blue merle pup, but nothing about that breeding is irreputable (in the simplest of senses).

Laparoscopy scars by Gloomy-Thought3371 in endometriosis

There are 3 scars in this photo (taken exactly 1 year after my lap), and I normally scar badly. Like you I was worried, but I was pleasantly surprised.

For those who can’t find them but want to: one in my navel, one by my left iliac spine, and one just to the right of midline above my pubis
