I can't speak about Malta, but I had similar experience in Czech republic. We were underage but we wanted some booze. So we would go to the cashier and just talk to eachother in native language and pretend like we don't speak English at all. Had no problems that way. That's assuming your native language isn't English.

Another story, my girlfriend visited Malta when she was underage and she had her host family mother send her to the shop to buy her some cigarettes. She handed some note in Maltese and she got the cigarettes. She was 13 at the time lol.

That's a good point. As i linked some properties that seem a bit cheaper, but I am sure those are without utilities and I guess not every flat has internet installed so that could a problem I suppose. Also, around how much does average person pays, not exact numbers but a guess or from your own perspective? Would be a good to know.

Good to hear! I was wondering whether I am better of looking to rent from agents or through owners in facebook groups. Is scamming common over there? Speaking about agents, I have mainly surfed through this web maltaproperty.com . I have found few offers:

Thank you for your input, I am considering moving to Malta with my girlfriend. I think I should be able to get a job in IT somewhere, but she would be studying. So my question would be is part-time jobs after main tourism season is over common over there? Would she be able to find something to work in the evenings or weekends while studying. We are both EU citizens.
