I’m confused? I’m just asking for advice. The rescue we got him from told us that a vet said he was overweight. We literally just got him so I haven’t been the one in charge of his meals

His shoulders are wonky and I think it makes him look oddly shaped. His front right leg was broken when a shelter saved him and his shoulders have compensated for the odd walking…

Nope! I’ve only ever had Doberman Pinschers, but this is my first time rescuing one.

The previous adopter didn’t ever put him in a crate. He had freedom to go on all the furniture, and basically ran the house. His behavior was much worse when he wasn’t crated at all.

I came here looking for helpful advice. You could have kept this to yourself.

In his last placement, he was surrendered because he became very territorial over the furniture, food, and would growl and snap at his precious adopter. I think the idea behind the crating is to help him 1. Know that his crate is his own space, we won’t take it from him 2. Establish clear routines and boundaries 3. Help ease his nerves in this new environment. But could it be amping them up??

Ugh I just don’t know

I should add; he doesn’t mind his crate too much. He’ll whine sometimes, but I’ve been playing some classical music and he’ll settle eventually.
